I think the big part is that he governs by polls. He does things the polls tell him is popular (Booze expansion), and doesn't do things that the polls says is unpopular (greenbelt expansion). Also, guns are pointed at feds rn.

So... Ontario Place, Bike Lanes and Ontario Science Centre are niche issues that really matter to <10 downtown Toronto ridings. They aren't making the difference in Brampton, or Suburban Ottawa, or Chatham-Kent.

He has the advantage that his opposition is "culturally captured" by people who live in those ridings, and he's emphasizing that 'they' will waste money on the ridings, while he shoves his thumb in the eye insufferable downtown elite.

His opposition don't speak to the relevant cultural issues of the people who live in the ridings where the election gets decided. (We're GREAT at bringing up to issues like "transgender teenager rights in schools!" which is a total turnoff for the voters we need.)

Because the opposition represents those downtown Toronto elites, who want that money spent on different projects.

Many of his supporters that I know pay no attn to the news & have no idea what he's doing. They focus on hating Trudeau & love our MPP because he shows up every weekend at the farmers market for a photo op. One was shocked when I mentioned the 225 mil contract penalty for booze in corner stores
