Velcro "dad shoes" are a legitimately viable and cool-looking way to design running shoes and it blows my mind apparently no company has actually tried this.

Strongly considering taking a big break from internets for the Summer. My use habits of Bluesky, Reddit & Substack have become kinda unhealthy. Just not good for the 'ol noggin.

Someone once referred to North American eggplant as "the Goofy-shoe sized one" and I can't stop thinking about that every time I'm in the produce aisle.

The tragedy of "touching grass" in 2025 is that you are really only doing it so you can find the best, most viral grass-touchy moments to share online later when you get home.

Tonight mood

Picked up some tomme aux fleurs cheese on the way home today. Definitely one of the craziest smelling ones I've had in a long while. I find it funny that so often the rankest smelling cheeses have a soft and fairly mellow flavour.

Me: *gets compliment* My brain: Do a weird laugh. No, weirder

"One of the biggest wins for true feminism in the last century is the realisation that women truly are just as good as men at wielding power. The sad part is they don't seem to be much better at it." - Nina Paley. I think. Maybe. She said something like this but it was mid-podcast and was cooking.

Re-watching #Detectorists. This show is cozy and wholesome to me especially with the good weather just around the corner.

I've always thought this is a strange and off-putting practice. It seems rude. Like very abruptly changing the subject when your GF is passionately explaining something she's really into.

Great chune

Why does everything I post to Bluesky (or social media generally) have to go through this weird "optics" filter before I hit submit? I made this anonymous account to say what I actually think but I think I have failed everyone.

New Califone album good.

Every single thing I say or have said has been endlessly practiced and tested, the sounds of the sentence bouncing off the eggshell or skull coloured paint of the room.

Entire US wine section removed from the shop in my province. 8 billion IQ move, this trade war.

The season finale of #Severance was better than I hoped. I still maintain that there was a lot of bloat due to the bad case of LOST-itis taking hold. The best way to watch season 2 is to get a severance implant procedure done so you can watch all the good bits and leave the chaff to an innie.

The World: just relax, don't worry so much about the details. Breathe. Take it one day at a time. Also the World: you are walking incorrectly, idiot.

If I ever find out I'm dying, I'm going to fly to Beverly Hills and die there. I don't care if I die in a cardboard box on the pavement, I just want Wikipedia to say I died in Beverly Hills. Like a big shot.

I really need to go to bed but I'm also 30 mins into reminding myself about all of the various 1966 Batman villians.

Last year I did a 10k out-and-back trail race and met a little kid blazing his way down as I was still heading up. I didn't see a number so I figured he was just playing around with all the festivities. He got 2nd place. He was 13 yrs old... Watch out for the youngs. They're always up to something!

Interesting/disturbing visualization of death data. 💀

“Philosophy would render us entirely skeptics, were not nature too strong for it.” — David Hume, An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding #philosophy #philsky

Folks. Not loving it.

Epistemic hipsterism? Contrary fetish? I wanted to coin a new smartypants term to help explain why we're all so wacky right now. 2 mins of googling showed me articles have been written on this since like 2010... I guess I'll need an even more alternative and obscure idea. We have to go deeper!

Sometimes my head is full of things I want to say and my heart is full of feelings I want to express but then also sometimes my entire body is just like David Chalmer's Bluesky profile.

Human beings really like wood. The tactile and visual beauty of it is a unique experience that is unlikely to lose it's appeal for a long time. We will have wooden desks on starships; I'm certain of this.
