Not sure the Dark Ages had a lot going for it tbh, odd to make it aspirational.

Utterly brilliant. Also reinforces my theory that things were built better in the āold daysā when I was young. š
As your man would say, āfascinatingā. š

Lovely. Not quite low enough for crab island, but oh boy spent some very happy hours in this bit of water.
Beautiful pic for a Sunday morning, thank you.

Genuinely surprised he wasnāt Scottish! And had no idea re his D-Day heroics.
What a life he led, and he nailed that role. Would have never heard of dilithium crystals or regularly replied to people āIām giving it all sheās gotā when I was at sea if it wasnāt for Scotty. Genuine hero.

Thank you. It sure slammed the brakes on my scrolling and made me think!

Have to say, what a sadly compelling picture this is.
The beauty of the swans, quietly being swans in their natural environment, contrasted with the dark, killing machines in the distance, capable of so much destruction & pain.

Ah sigh. Love these reminders of my youth. Thanks so much for posting.

Think my old Green River is in the attic now (in my Ditty bag!). Along with a marlin spike the chief engineer made for me from a piston he removed from the main engine!
I remember seeing a stiletto blade years ago, didnāt seem designed for rigging!!

Yes thatās true, but in the 19th Century Green River had a great reputation for quality, it was a US brand, they were durable and kept a really good edge, so were common at sea.
My dad bought me one and told me all about it when I joined as 2nd mate in mid ā80s.

I used to sail square rigged ships and the classic riggers knives carried by the crew were āGreen Riverā. Which I had.
Traditionally the tips were always broken off and blunted when joining a ship, as was mine, to reduce chances of serious injury in āmisunderstandingsā on a long passage.

Just too many changes, most not quite good enough.
First XI is good but depth lacking.

Followed an EV for 8 miles and now in Morecambe, walking on the beach. Is it a pier?

āThank you for your attention in this matterā.
Itās like heās poured all his anger, vitriol and dirge uncontrollably out, then thinks, it needs a bit of balance to show how mature and in control I am.
Iām sure he bewilders himself never mind others.

Itās incredible isnāt it. Scary even, the immediate assumptions and blame that people leap to.
It happens.
Has happened to me in the past but was resolved before required.

Came here to say that. Whole country being turned into a game show for the amusement of the rich & entitled.
Inevitable I guess when run by a game show host supported by Fox News presenters.
Hunger games a step closer.

Maybe he thinks an air traffic controller screaming āJesus Christā when losing comms with a dozen aircraft circling or on approach indicates a successful intervention. š¤·
Blaming everything/everyone else (non divine deity) as a back up.
