He’s just a perfect match with Carlisle as a coach. Keeps the offense flexible in way no other team has managed against OkC

It’s responding to a truly batshit analogy comparing Palestinians to Polish Jews which makes the time period it’s supposed to be about muddled bsky.app/profile/matt...

They’re making that argument very explicitly in subpara c. And I don’t know how convincing “the coefficients are a black box” is as a reply to “you ask for Kung Fu Panda and it gives you Kung Fu Panda stills from the movies”

I looked through too much of that thread and apparently the argument is “anyone who doesn’t subscribe to my exact version of materialist analysis is an idiot.” That plus antisemitism and hating Ukraine

Or was he just so obsessed with recreating Vader’s redemption arc he couldn’t accept the Rey vs Kylo Ren philosophical climax that was handed to him on a platter

I’m more thinking just JJ, from TFA to TRoS, I don’t see how you get there even if he directs TLJ and does JJ shit with it. Does Palpatine rip off a Snoke mask? Did he want Luke to be the hero?
comment in response to post
Has JJ ever talked about where he thought it was going? I’ve always thought TLJ is narratively fairly successful even if the execution is bad at points. But no idea if JJ had a different plan or if TRoS is pure reaction to TLJ complaints

And if the big players let Disney build up wins against fools flying pirate flags, they’re going to be fighting an uphill battle when the real fight starts

The big IP holders have mostly been picking fights that have those bad facts. ThomsonReuters already won one where the AI company scraped their content in obvious violation of a contract. And created some decent pro-IP precedent along the way

If you’ve cooked your brain so long in theory that you come out with “actually the Confederates had a point” you gotta go back and re-examine the theory

Bunch of media personalities taking their mouth off the sewage pipe to say “this couldn’t POSSIBLY be affecting my perception of reality, unlike those deluded fools in the Bluesky bubble”

Even just the Bush era Congress was far more involved in national policy. It mostly sucked, but NCLB, Medicare Part D, Patriot Act, the AUMF and Iraq; they were legislating on the biggest issues, not just tax cuts

Treatler rails about underclass, fails to realize that treats are dependent on the existence of that underclass

It’s not even an organized protest! If 50501 hosts a Bring Your Non-American Flag protest it might make sense to discuss optics, but who are they even supposed to be arguing with. That dude standing on the flaming Waymo is not reading our posts

Newsom being who he makes it a nonzero chance of him going to LA for a high profile arrest. If you’re a slimy opportunist, this is your opportunity! Get that photo op

I think he genuinely doesn’t understand that there’s a difference between Barstool and 2010s era Deadspin. That it’s just a matter of style instead of substance

The speed that it went from the most important issue in politics to a thing we never talk about is unmatched. Disappeared faster than egg prices

THPS inspired more people to try skating because it was so unrealistically simple. Skate could never have kicked off the X Games boom

Unless you think other protesters should physically remove Mexican flags, there are going to be some Mexican flags. This is once again blaming “the left” because you got annoyed at a single tumblr post.

In short: don’t let the absence of the words “Insurrection Act” fool you. Trump has authorized the deployment of troops anywhere in the country where protests against ICE activity might occur. That is a huge red flag for democracy in the United States. 19/19

This is the part that drives me the craziest about techno-utopian visions is the refusal to engage with the political aspects. Even in a delusional GAI future, it's only good if we have the political will to implement universal income. The political innovation is just as important as the tech.

I enjoy the Hope/Fear system. And the whole system was reasonably intuitive on a table with 3 players who’d never done ttrpg before. O think it’s just good

Otherwise you’re going to spend a week debunking Ancient Aliens instead of saying “that’s Ancient Aliens, it’s not real”

But it’s a terrible idea that nobody actually practices in the real world. We have limited time and resources. You should filter ideas/news by expertise and trustworthiness

Yeah, starlink could mess with Ukraine’s capabilities because Ukraine couldn’t stop them. But they’re physically in the US, DOD would just take what it needs if it comes to that and NASA could make do
