Welcome aboard. No getting started guide, but there are some tips in the Gumroad page which you can access from your receipt :)

I was attaching a 6" hole sole to my drill and muscle memory kicked in but I underestimated the size of this thing and even though it was spinning at slow speed the very wide radius made the teeth turn very fast and somehow my thumb got in the way

About 5 years ago I stopped bookmarking things for "read it later". If I'm not motivated enough to read it now, it's probably not worth reading. I don't think I missed anything :)
Only thing I've been using X's bookmarks if for testimonials for my products, so that I can put them on the site later.

If you forget them, they weren't important :)

German actually. They’re impressive.
Rest of Europe mostly has same crappy windows like ours.

Those tips are the onboarding guide :)
It's organic like a social network. There aren't many rules; just be nice, share your stuff, ask for help, help others if you like :)
It's very casual, so you can't do things wrong.

Welcome aboard Julian!
If you click "Join the Community" from your email receipt you should get to the onboarding instructions. Let me know if that doesn't help.

I don’t think X is done for, but it’s possible we end up with different social networks for different levels of conversation. X more mainstream; Here (or somewhere else) more personal; and so on.

Build a lot of credibility with free stuff first. The order matters.

No bluesky course.
AWS book is still very relevant.
Never used kortex.

Just an opportunity to open the AMA. I plan to do more on different topics. Home renovation DIY next.

Yes i will reconsider / renegotiate when my 2yr agreement with them is up.

There are ~50 courses on various topics hosted by experts with first-hand experience (seo, ecommerce, youtube, podcasting, and so on). Then there's a group chat, which is like X / blusky but more casual and with no haters.

Customers are usually not dumb, so trying to do something with no credibility usually doesn't work... or doesn't last.

Education can be a business so nothing inherently wrong with that.
It's like a piano player starting a piano teaching business. But of course, you must know how to play piano and how to teach.

X also has user notifications which creates a feed for users you select. But almost nobody uses it so it doesn't help with this goal.

I have a 2 year commitment with Gumroad since they bought 10% of Small Bets for $500K earlier this year.

Would be nice to have posts get delivered to followers more reliably.

Absolutely. I love Hey and would never go back to gmail.

I still like twitter. The “For You” algorithm needs some tweaks (too much stuff I don’t like) but there are still plenty of serendipitous opportunities. Some randomness is good.

I’d like to do something different here. But not settled on what it would be.

It would be nice if every follower sees my posts. Something that doesn't happen on X. I have 180K+ followers there and many tell me they haven't seen a post of mine for years.
