It's worth noting that dissonance is something that the writers were aiming for, iirc.
They did want to unsettle people via contrasts, as stated in an interview about the decisions made for the Mother 3 logo, but something about the way it was executed just wasn't doing it for me ig

It's still ultimately a great game, and I did end up liking it after watching someone else play it while knowing all the twists, but back then, I felt a lil bad about not liking it right off the bat?

Okay fr tho, I couldn't enjoy Mother 3's plot on my first playthrough bc of this.
The whiplash was so bad that certain scenes/plotlines fell completely flat on me bc I just couldn't take the game seriously and things were feeling a little forced.
