Statue of Lemmy (Motorhead) in Burslem. Press the nose of the roundel and deafening metal riffs drown out the traffic on the A50.

Pleasure to visit www.barewall.co.uk gallery in Burslem #stokeontrent to see work by @ianrpearsall.bsky.social with Phil Shallcross, and pick up a text by @daveproudlove.bsky.social

Sooner or later this redundant marvel will die of arson or neglect. Why not send it in boxes to www.britishmuseum.org Replace Elgin's marbles with Wedgwood's terracotta?

City of Dislocated Diamonds. Brick diapering calamities seem to be a #stokeontrent vernacular.

Things we care for and look after. And things we don't care for or look after. Entrance to Burslem Market. #stokeontrent #urbicide

Everyone's first view of Liverpool. Pleasantly Liverpool in a way.

Delighted to belatedly discover yesterday that after several years tenure Redrock in #stockport is no longer the current Carbuncle Cup holder. @stockportcouncil.bsky.social It's worthy successor here in Liverpool by Broadway Malyan. @thefence.bsky.social

Ramsgate Marina Art Deco, Seawater Pool, opened in 1935 and closed in 1975. It is now a car park!

So I suggested SK rethink Greek St roundabout as space for people. Met predictably misinformed councillor tropes: - because a road is busy it is necessary - building pedestrian space is more expensive than highways - road closure(sic) would impact residents, local businesses and visitors negatively

Visit to Cho Yiu Chuen Estate 1976-81, sketch of N courtyard. Cho Yiu has 2546 flats in 7.17ha site (355 homes/ha). The average household size is now (2016) 2.8, but many of the flats were originally designed for 4 to 8 person occupancy.

TOD in the US v. an ecoquartier in paris...

In less than a year Utrecht transformed its unattractive and busy inner ring road into a livable and green city boulevard. Less car traffic, new trees, more green, cleaner air, improved livability. A win on many levels!

“It's not my duty as Mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. For me it's the same as if you bought a cow, or a refrigerator, and then asked me where you're going to put them.” — Mayor of Pontevedra, Spain (re-elected 6 times)

Road closures at running events clearly show how much public space is reserved exclusively for cars and how that space could be used differently, for many more people.

Modelling the city by stacking floorplates; difficult to get right and an epic waste of time.

“A review of scientific research has found that pedestrians and cyclists are 44% more likely to be killed in a collision with an SUV or light truck, compared to a passenger car. The outlook is even more dire for children, who are 82% more likely to be killed when struck by the larger vehicles.”

Hoping Bruce Lee will save us #fridgemagnetictators

An early 20th century advertisement for James Templeton & Co. The advert shows the glorious carpet factory designed in the Italian Gothic style by William Leiper. The facade was modelled on the Doge's Palace in Venice, and intended to mask the more prosaic weaving mill behind.

So pleased Keir Starmer has joined The Tory Party with his ‘Island of Strangers’ speech. I’ve given him an Enoch Powell style moustache. Rather dashing don’t you think? What’s he saying next? Rivers of Blood? Get Brexit Done? Build Back Better? This Lady’s Not For Turning? 🇬🇧

Bossons Glacier today! 🧊❄️😳 This iconic feature of the Chamonix Valley icescape is collapsing quickly! 🔥 Look at the impressive serac wall over the now deglaciated holes down to bedrock in the middle! 😱 15 years ago the front was clearly outside that frame! ⏰ 📷 @lomdumtblanc.bsky.social
