Met predictably misinformed councillor tropes: - because a road is busy it is necessary - building pedestrian space is more expensive than highways - road closure(sic) would impact residents, local businesses and visitors negatively

An early 20th century advertisement for James Templeton & Co. The advert shows the glorious carpet factory designed in the Italian Gothic style by William Leiper. The facade was modelled on the Doge's Palace in Venice, and intended to mask the more prosaic weaving mill behind.
