I know everything is on fire but PLEASE contact your representatives about the selloff of public lands. It's a heartbreaking proposal that will destroy the soul of America.

Fred Osanna, corrupt President of Twin Cities Rapid Transit, receives a check from James Towey, Secretary-Treasurer, as the streetcars burn for scrap value in this iconic photo. Osanna was later put in prison for his act of civic vandalism, but by then the 500-mile system and its assets were gone.

The Supreme Court's third decision is a 6–3 split, conservatives vs. liberals, in McLaughlin v. McKesson, with Kavanaugh writing for the court. This bad outcome further weakens the power of federal agencies, an ongoing project for the supermajority. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

So much this. Was ASTOUNDED when I rode it.

I wrote about affordable housing subsidies in Phillips, and how it fits into the long-standing policy feud in the Twin Cities. www.minnpost.com/cityscape/20...

It's totally not a detention center. It's just a place where people are held for many days against their will by dudes like this. Big difference! www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/n...

Massachusetts progressives fought for & won the Fair Share tax, an extra 4% on income above $1M, which now funds transit & education Our media & center-right Dems have spent the whole time since sweatily trying to convince the public that millionaires are fleeing the state It’s a total lie

So Starship Ship 36 just detonated *before* the static fire test - fueled and waiting for the test. Looks like the top tank lets go and sets off the whole stack. It would be bad enough if it let go during the static fire test, but it just blew up. And it's cooking off the fuel tanks on the pad.

@smith.senate.gov hits the nail on the head. www.sltrib.com/news/politic...

"Frightening images out of Pasadena show a plainclothes federal law enforcement officer at a stoplight jumping out of his vehicle and drawing his weapon on a person attempting to photograph his license plate. "

the destruction of chattel slavery is one of the great accomplishments in our nation's history and the reason conservatives hate celebrating it is because doing so legitimizes the black counter-narrative of the united states

I want to circle back to this because several days after the manhunt concluded, I have heard from many friends in areas impacted by the search and I still have a lot to concerns and no answers. Cont.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

Took a deep dive into the alleged Minnesota assassin's religious background....from his spiritual awakening in a vegetable canning factory.... to his enrollment at a charismatic christian bible school in Dallas, and found evidence linking him to christian nationalism www.wired.com/story/christ...

RPA STUDY: Congestion pricing "has reduced traffic not only in Manhattan’s congestion relief zone (CRZ) but on roadways across the region. These time savings seem to be stable — remaining consistent and undiminished" -- rpa.org/news/lab/con...

This has wide ranging implications- I successfully argued NYPD’s discriminatory treatment of a trans man arrested at Occupy is subject to heightened scrutiny, making precedent in the policing context. This opinion also opens the door wide open to police violence & discrimination against trans ppl.

This is what Minneapolis did to one of its most gracious Avenues in 1968.

I'm with @chuygarcia.house.gov, Rep Jonathan Jackson, & Rep Danny Davis at the ICE Processing Center at Broadview to investigate ICE's inhumane, unlawful detention of immigrant families - our constituents. Against the law, we're being denied entry.

🚨THIS STORY IS INSANE. The Trump administration shipped a guy to be imprisoned in El Salvador without trial, in conditions worse than we treat even convicted serial killers, because he was in a picture standing next to someone with tattoos. LITERALLY NO OTHER EVIDENCE.

I’ve been asked what changed me. …it wasn’t someone yelling or being called a hypocrite or brainwashed... It was seeing the cracks for myself. It was the quiet discomfort that grew louder over time. The inconsistencies that refused to settle. The small moments that didn’t make sense until they did”

One of the agents who arrested Brad Lander for asking to see a judicial warrant. ICE was involved, but who’s this ninja? An agent of Trump’s secret police. Fascism is an aesthetic. This black-masked man is a statement of intention & belief; the intention is sadism; the belief is in power.

Yeah you’ve got hochul uploading an official nygov social video calling lander’s arrest, and I’m quoting here, “bullshit.” They think the feds have overreached and are vulnerable.

Didn't realize police could commandeer a home.

It's worse! They've also emptied out much of the expert level below the wildly inexperienced top group. The whole administration is organized to prevent the president from having to trouble himself with accurate information.

If you thought the Big Beautiful Bill couldn’t get any worse, the Senate Finance Committee made hospitals and patients take even deeper cuts. From @ddayen.bsky.social https://trib.al/BrF7CpF

A Muslim candidate for mayor of the nation's largest city, defending the rights of a Jewish candidate for mayor, who was arrested for defending the rights of immigrants not to face detention without warrants. This is the kind of solidarity Trump and his goons fear.

In America in 2025, this is what happens to an elected official if they ask to see a warrant. (📸 Dean Moses, AMNY)

I get being mad about this, but it also highlights that there's a significant portion of the country for whom the warning signs of political extremism are just everyday life and not seen as a political stance or project. It's the old David Foster Wallace "This is water" thing, but for fascism.

I truly believe we will look back at this attitude as *the* sickness of our political era. It is an extremely basic fact, and has been for decades, that the vast majority of political violence in the US is committed by the right! You cannot solve a problem if you refuse to identify it.

The era of "thoughts and prayers" now feels like the good ol' days. Saturday's Minnesota assassination saw top Republicans lying about the shooter's politics, even joking The truth? Most political violence is from the right and their leaders egg it on. My new column www.inquirer.com/columnists/a...

Harry Enten on Trump's bill: "The amount of disapproval for this bill -- holy cow, my goodness gracious! We're talking about 29 points underwater ... we're talking about a negative 41 net favorability rating among independents. You rarely ever see proposed pieces of legislation as unpopular"

None of the people quoted in this article are willing to face the source of the violent rhetoric and begin to do any work to stop it. It's all "both sides" or not me." www.startribune.com/after-one-of...

Statement from the two children of Melissa and Mark Hortman. “Hope and resilience are the enemy of fear. Our parents lived their lives with immense dedication to their fellow humans. This tragedy must become a moment for us to come together.”

dismissed. dismissed. dismissed. @wedge.live and i have prevailed after our day in campaign finance court with our lawyer @dansuitor.bsky.social

Here’s last night’s story about the juvenile justice system in the U.S., how we’re incarcerating children at many times the rate of other nations, and how John feels about five specific guinea pigs. youtu.be/Pya-kt5M7uY

Minnesota Appellate Court Watch: a major tenants' rights decision came down today. In a *precedential* opinion, the Court of Appeals ruled that (1) landlords may not lock tenants out even in cases of damage to a property, and (2) courts may award replacement housing and consequential dmgs in an ETRA

Bill Ackman just donated *another* $250,000 to the pro-Cuomo super PAC. He's now the third-biggest donor to Fix the City. 1. Mike Bloomberg: $5,000,000 2. Doordash: $1,000,000 3. Ackman: $500,000 4. Daniel Loeb: $350,000 5. Matthew Hulsizer: $300,000 www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

The Minnesota shooter was a big InfoWars fan, according to his roommate. Naturally, his favorite website has spent the last two days calling their big murderous fan a Democrat and a patsy.

there is now a gofundme to benefit melissa and mark hortman’s two kids www.gofundme.com/f/support-co...

"This was the largest manhunt in MN State History" but the suspect escaped after police witnessed him murder someone, escaped to both his known residences and was walking around North Mpls with a giant cowboy hat on. Stop listening to these stenographers feeding you hagiography.

I wrote about why I'm grateful for Melissa Hortman's work, and for her persistent refusal to give into the destructive right-wing games Democrats fall for time and again. badfaithtimes.com/melissa-hort...

for all of the praise of law enforcement we've seen since Saturday, it's now clear cops had at least two opportunities to prevent Vance Boelter from murdering Melissa Hortman and her husband but failed to do so.
