The only possible out is that after tomorrow and events start, we get trade tokens another way, making trading anything over three diamond actually reasonable.
But yeah this benefits no one - paid players wouldn't need it, F2P players couldn't afford scrapping the cards to do it. A bizarre choice

It looks like the special edition contains DLC, including one that two marriage candidates are marked as being locked to (Seasons of Love) on the character page, so it's probably day one DLC?

I can't remember if we've talked about Fantasy Life, but here's the trailer for the new one just in case. It also has a new village building feature but it seems to be cosmetic a la Animal Crossing New Horizons.

The trailer was really missing the farming aspect in detail, but overall it's very hype! With just a month between it and Fantasy Life I hope both are unique enough to really shine. It's a good year for these kinds of games!
