Oh, sorry if I misled, not THAT exciting. The trio getting the field survey observations and drawings they have always deserved - illustrations from our winter fieldwork starting to come together, but I am now seeing hachures in my sleep… 😵‍💫😁

I wish I could share what was on my monitor this month #HachureHeaven 😉

Postscript: It will eventually get done… but only when a new thing that I want to do even less appears, and suddenly the old undesirable task becomes a handy delaying tactic. And repeat forever. (Might have to be a full thigh-sleeve tat 😅)

Had a similar eyebrow-raising moment when visiting Creswell Crags with archaeo pals last month. I failed to take a photograph of the display (we were too busy sniggering at the likely scents), but these are available in the on-site & online shop… crags-shop.com/collections/...

Yes, I spotted that 😂, Yorkshire confectionary for Yorkshire monuments! I’ll float that theory with the gang tomorrow 😉 Also Clifford’s Tower. Both v topical for this weeks busy team gathering.

Not that I am aware of 🤔 I think clear simple language often does the job, so just ‘modern stone circles’ would work for me… But if there is a specialist / composite term then @urbanprehistorian.bsky.social is the person to ask!

I love this smell, it is the most comforting nostalgia for me - she doesn’t wear it anymore, but one whiff immediately puts me back 4 decades snuggled in my mother’s arms, perched proud upon her hip 🥰

@barleyhallyork.bsky.social the world are talking about your fab window again ☺️

Did you see this @artefactual.bsky.social? Very reminiscent of your own lovely zines. Now I want to make remodelable mini monuments (perhaps with cute smiles). Polissoir little guy? 🤗

Yes, ta, I clocked that earlier 💚 Wishing we were there in person to collect ideas!!

Thanks for sharing all this! Watching from afar with envy 📌

Plus your zine is so engaging and clear!

I particularly love the make and then re-make potential. I don’t think I have considered non-drying clays as adult craft or ways of thinking through shaping before.

That is always the danger! My friend and I always pick different areas each year, I enjoy exploring previously unseen streets, surprising houses & hidden cafes, almost as much as I like discovering artists and their processes. But there are some favourites I love to return to.

I have been away over most of Open Studios this year, but I managed a day in Fulford & Osbaldwick seeing artists I’ve not visited before. I always love the event! So nice that you managed so many and saw old acquaintances.

Alas, no sadly due to time & space (though Amy has done a few lovely ones). But I have thought about it *often*, she & I are plotting to find ways to have another play soon. Recent fieldwork projects have been inspiring me, so I’m keen to capture aspects of time spent in magic places 🤞

Gorgeous collection, Allan! @michellehughes.bsky.social is active on here, and I’m sure she’d be chuffed to see how her print inspired. I did one of her courses last year and it was truly excellent. Happy Easter to you & C, Bx

The fact that we’ve all kept a copy of this prospectus says a lot. That and the fact that I count several of the tutors pictures as my friends now. It was SUCH a wonderful community to learn in, so sad to see its demise.

Oh that has taken me back - the same one that reeled me in for the 1999 intake! It’s amazing how familiar all those pages still look, I must have read through it many times while deliberating over my options

Not hugs, but I often feel compelled to give a slow, deliberate pat - like I am affectionately greeting or saying farewell to a dear and respected old friend / dog / horse 🙃 A venerable tree would get the same reverent touch for connection, if it ‘speaks’ to me.
