All the talk about the innocent people who were deported kinda missing the point that we’re not supposed to deport the guilty ones without due process either.

@vanhollen.senate.gov So, how about ALSO the GAY HAIR DRESSER who was snatched and sent to that prison ? His life also matters. Andry Hernandez Romero

Maybe Bondi is even higher up in MS-13. She might lead the whole thing. There's just as much evidence

“every border implies the violence of its maintenance” includes gender

plenty of cultures value children, but the US is unique in valuing the *idea* of children while enabling violence against actual kids and keeping them in privation at every turn

So Van Hollen managed to meet with El Salvador's Vice President, and his honest answer to the question "why are you holding this man if neither your nor my government has evidence that he is MS-13" was "because America is paying us to hold him there?" Do I have that right?

Is Kilmar Abrego Garcia alive? Because the amount of resistance to addressing his being trafficked gives the distinct impression that either he is dead or what they have done to him is so unspeakable that they cannot afford for him to be freed, seen, or spoken with.

gender essentialism is a trap... it is pathetic... it is embarrassing that you believe this and it is your responsibility to move out of that belief and impose it as little as possible on the people around you...

It's the most right-wing evangelical thing ever that they set up a concentration camp in a country named after Jesus.

my longest held belief is that if you’re nearing your middle ages you need to get into a semi-social hobby or creative project quickly otherwise you are more susceptible to rightwing radicalization brain rot content

How long before the Supreme Court finds that criminal contempt is an "official act" of the presidency and, therefore, shielded from legal reprisals?

the most influential donor in gop politics leads an apocalyptic babymaking cult and democratic consultants dont think we should call them "weird."

Start with a simple question: Is Kilmar Abrego Garcia still alive? They abducted an innocent man and sent him to a violent concentration camp in a country he fled from due to violence. How we respond now determines how far they’ll go the next time, and every time after.

Trying to envision the exact opposite of what is happening, an uncontrollable Dem administration that wantonly passes universal healthcare and climate legislation all in violation of the Constitution, and no one can stop them.

This is something we can all do.👇🏼 File a complaint with the FL and DC Bar to have Pam Bondi disbarred for not complying with the 9-0 Supreme Court ruling to return Mr. Garcia from El Salvador.

I was just reminded that this administration had no problem facilitating Andrew Tate's release from custody in Romania.

The crazy thing about humans is this: We could provide food, water, shelter, healthcare, & education to everyone on earth. The reason we don’t is because we’ve decided to put profits first. That’s it. The acquisition of bits of green paper over all else is a choice. Greed is holding us back.

The top 1% evade $163 billion in taxes per year — enough to end homelessness, hunger, and pay for universal childcare. 👆🏻 This is the crime wave we should be talking more about.

Really feels like those other co-equal branches of government that are supposed to provide "checks" and/or "balances" are the political equivalent of the Uvalde police. Just patiently waiting outside until they stop hearing gunshots.

Donald Trump is deporting legal US residents to a foreign gulag, and he has stated publicly that he is moving on to citizens next. This is a Constitutional crisis. Will a single Republican stand up for our Constitution?

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

If the courts can demonstrate that a CORPORATION is a person, this should be easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy.

Feels like there’s a huge open lane for Democrats who promise consequences, not bipartisan working groups.

i have argued before that MAGA is recapitulating antebellum pro-slavery ideas about citizenship and bodily autonomy. one thing i am also thinking about, when it comes to the rendition of people to a foreign gulag, is the way it is reminiscent of the kidnapping of free blacks for sale into slavery

I do not think it is a coincidence that Trump and Karoline Leavitt are both floating the “US Citizens sent to El Salvador” a few days after massive, distributed anti-Trump protests. It is a threat, and we need to be louder and angrier than ever before on behalf of everyone who has been sent.

For tycoons, their losses are worth it so they can regain power over people with pronouns in their bio. For them this is spending trillions to never hear a land acknowledgment again. It's worth it to them. They're burning it down so they can be kings of the ashes.

The IRS agreed to share legally protected taxpayer information with DHS and ICE. Federal law clearly protects taxpayer privacy. This agreement is illegal. This is an assault on every single taxpayer's rights and will destroy lives.

When I talk about the negative consequences of the internet, I don’t mean the internet is fundamentally bad or that it should be destroyed or that people shouldn’t be able to connect at scale. What I mean is that the most popular internet platforms have been weaponized to incentivize bad behavior

This has always been the GOP's strategy: 1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves. 2) Explode the deficit. 3) Demand cuts to vital programs that help millions. 4) Repeat. They're trying to get away with it again.

this is straightforwardly concentration camp stuff. just in very plain terms: we send people to camps now if we, the government, deem it necessary, without due process. you can file a habeas petition in the united states district court with jurisdiction over el salvador, i guess.

Sending anyone from this country to a foreign gulag, particularly without a court hearing, should rightfully end a presidency. Full stop.

Having worked with kids who go through this, it’s really hard to reconcile in my head what this will mean for them. All of this —not just the education stuff —impacts kids in ways the grown ups around them haven’t considered. For a nation that says it wants children, we fail them constantly.

The government does not want to bring anyone back from the prison in El Salvador because then they will speak and tell everyone how rotten that place is. That's what they are afraid of .
