Its #LGBTQIAEqualPay day! CAP data shows LGBTQI+ women lose over 39k a year and Black LGBTQI+ households lose over 33k. We have to fight back against this administration that is destroying every right and enforcement institution on the books. www.americanprogress.org/article/the-...

Our latest shows that LGBTQI+ households lose $12,600 per year to the wage gap, and the gaps are wider for LGBTQI+ people who are trans, women, and people of color. We must fight the claw backs to our civil rights enforcement agencies for #LGBTQIAEqualPay.🏳️‍🌈 www.americanprogress.org/article/the-...

Last school year was the hottest on record—and this summer could prove worse. For @the74.bsky.social @pbshoemaker.bsky.social explains what advocates and policymakers can do to protect our students from the heat: www.the74million.org/article/last...

House Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act would give the wealthiest Americans huge tax breaks while harming everyday Americans—many of whom live in states that voted for Donald Trump.

"We have to be competent at governing.” @governorwalz.mn.gov offers an alternative vision of leading with competency and compassion:

Happening soon!!

Good policy is informed by good data - but gathering data, particularly for the LGBTQI+ community is harder than it's ever been. @americanprogress.bsky.social is committed to collecting that data and using it to shape solutions to real-world problems.

The latest event in CAP’s series, “What’s Next: Conversations on the Path Forward," is starting now: www.americanprogress.org/events/ameri... Don't miss this live event with @neeratanden.bsky.social and @chrismurphyct.bsky.social.

@kcpeeks.bsky.social will be speaking at this important event next week - tune in to learn more about what early childhood research shows us about the importance of early and sustained investments in young children! firstfocus.org/event/early-...

"Child care costs keep young families up at night all over the country, whether you're in a red, blue, or purple district." @repcasar.bsky.social is at CAP today & he knows the importance of making child care affordable + accessible for working families.

Cost estimate of the House-passed "Big Beautiful Bill" is out It'd be the largest cut to Medicaid+CHIP and SNAP in history while still increasing deficits by $2.4 trillion due to $3.8 trillion in tax cuts This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

Helpful new resource from @nwlc.org - a timeline of the Trump Admin's targeted attacks on Head Start. Reminder: they told us they were going to eliminate Head Start in Project 2025, and we should believe them! #ProtectHeadStart nwlc.org/resource/att...

Sex ed isn’t just risk reduction and disease prevention. ✅Sex ed works—it gives young people the tools they need for success. ✅Sex ed is not controversial—parents & youth want it. ✅Sex ed supports mental health & empathy—building a more compassionate generation. #SexEdForAll

Care work enables families to thrive. Yet the immigrant women doing this work often face poverty-level wages, no benefits, and no protections. An important story from @cnn.com on how anti-immigration policies harm care workers & deepen the care crisis⤵️ amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/05/...

"The Trump administration’s attack on knowledge is not limited to academia, however. Across the government, workers whose job is to research, investigate, or analyze have lost funding or been fired." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

High-quality early intervention and child care are proven to improve kids' later-in-life outcomes. Trump is gutting research into just how effective these programs are, and how we can improve them - particularly for young children of color. hechingerreport.org/five-decade-...

The Mayoral candidates in NYC understand that voters need to hear their #childcare plans. It's a top priority issue. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

Important conversation on child care licensing reform happening at 4:00pm today - there's still time register! Excited to hear from my colleague @haileygibbs.bsky.social and other partners! us06web.zoom.us/webinar/regi...

"We should be expanding access to opportunity for low-income and marginalized students, but instead, vouchers undermine public schools while giving public dollars to families who typically already have resources." —@repbonamici.bsky.social 👏

Happy Birthday Head Start 🎉🎉🎉 We need to protect & fund this critical program which serves kids, families, & communities across the country. #HappyBirthdayHeadStart Take action: www.ffyf.org/take-action/

New from my amazing colleague @pbshoemaker.bsky.social: Ignoring the issues rural students face while diverting public funds to private schools will not strengthen education. Policymakers must focus on adequately funding + supporting rural public schools. www.americanprogress.org/article/how-...

@alsobrooks.senate.gov said it best: RFK Jr. is NOT the right person for the job. He does not have the best interests of American families in mind - from vaccinations to child care to cancer research, RFK Jr. is clueless and his policies are hurting Americans.

@markey.senate.gov shares stories from constituents about the impact of budget and program cuts on their health. How will RFK Jr budget for the increase in health conditions caused by cuts to prevention programs? www.markey.senate.gov/makeamericas...

@kaine.senate.gov wants to know why Sec. RFK Jr. approved massive RIFs at HHS, including 400+ employees with ACF. These cuts and DOGE attacks will have huge consequences on the administration of ACF & HHS programs. www.americanprogress.org/events/steal...

Senator Murphy correctly argues that Sec. Kennedy has consistently undermined the importance of the measles vaccination. We KNOW how important childhood vaccinations are: www.americanprogress.org/article/chil...

Sec. Kennedy says he fought for Head Start to get its funding next year. @baldwin.senate.gov wants to know about programs who can't get funding NOW. Sec. Kennedy claims programs aren't experiencing delays - this is NOT true. www.americanprogress.org/article/clos...

“Chairman, you can’t fire 90% of the people and expect the work to get done.” - @Sen Murray We agree - cuts to funding + firings across HHS threaten all the services overseen by HHS. Tune in live - www.help.senate.gov/hearings/hea...

@pattymurray.bsky.social knows that the firing of employees across HHS means the difference between life and death. Read how HHS office closures will impact the administration of critical child care and early learning services. www.americanprogress.org/article/clos...

RFK Jr claims in the Senate HELP committee hearing that the administration hasn't fired any NIH working scientists. I'm sure there are many scientists who would beg to differ.

Join me in watching Sec. Kennedy justify massive cuts to the HHS budget in front of the HELP Committee. Let's hold this Admin accountable - watch the hearing: www.help.senate.gov/hearings/hea...

Shout out to @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social for supporting #childcare at 4 am last night! @replindasanchez.bsky.social @repdelbene.bsky.social @repgwenmoore.bsky.social @gomez.house.gov #RepDannyDavis #RepJudyChu spoke beautifully about addressing families' child care needs. TY for your leadership!

During today’s HELP hearing, I want answers: closing 5 regional HS offices and consolidating them threatens the timely disbursement of funds and key TA for local grantees. What is HHS’ plan? www.americanprogress.org/article/clos...

When asked by @pocan.house.gov, RFK Jr. would not say that he would vaccinate his kids for measles, polio, or chicken pox, instead saying he didn't want to give advice. Isn't that part of the job??

I’ll be watching Sec. Kennedy testify in front of HELP today. I have LOTS of questions, but most importantly: • Why were HS offices closed? • Why was PDG B-5 eliminated in the budget? • Can you guarantee HS programs will be able to access their $$ as appropriated by Congress?

The 2024 LGBTQI+ Community Survey from @americanprogress.bsky.social revealed many forms of discrimination and barriers to equity for LGBTQI+ folks. Perhaps among the most concerning? Abortion bans are making it harder for LGBTQI+ people find medical providers for ANY form of care.

Republicans are trying to rip health insurance away from 10.7 million people in their reconciliation bill. How many people is 10.7 million? It's the combined population of: -New Hampshire -Maine -Montana -Rhode Island -Delaware -South Dakota -North Dakota -Alaska -Washington, DC -Vermont -Wyoming

If one person's rights are threatened, everyone's rights are threatened. @vanhollen.senate.gov explains:

🚨New from @lilyroberts.bsky.social and me for @americanprogress.bsky.social: the so-called "pro-family" party is cutting funding for programs that support families with children to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy. Read more here ⬇️ www.americanprogress.org/article/cong...

As Mother's Day approaches, I’m thinking about the things that would truly celebrate moms: paid leave, higher minimum wage, child care for all. Grateful to @gaylegoldin.bsky.social at @tcfdotorg.bsky.social for laying this out in her piece.

New report published today! Data from the CAP 2024 LGBTQI+ Community Survey reveals that abortion bans have uniquely drastic impacts on LGBTQI+ people. Concerningly, results show that LGBTQI+ people are struggling to find medical care due to abortion bans. www.americanprogress.org/article/new-...

"America doesn’t have a birth problem. We have a caregiving crisis. And it’s being made worse by politicians who claim to be pro-family while stripping away everything that helps us raise our children." Powerful op-ed from a Head Start mom: dcjournal.com/what-i-want-...

Who pays for choice? Join CAP and the National Center for Learning Disabilities on Thursday, May 15th for an important event on the impact of public education privatization. @repbonamici.bsky.social will be giving keynote remarks, followed by a panel discussion. buff.ly/uJl0KCE
