You ever meet someone you hope will be a great kisser but they’re… mediocre? 🥺

“Kristi Noem should resign for what has happened under her watch,” Rep. Swalwell said in an interview. “No one asked for this. We were promised violent criminals would be deported. Instead,...[it's] the second member of Congress in 45 days who’s been arrested." www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

No Kings protest at the capitol in Phoenix tomorrow will have kids zone, carnival games and family friendly drag performance. Make plans

AOC: When they say illegal vs legal immigration—they are trying to end legal status in the US making people undocumented and then they have the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented.

Noem says the Department of Homeland Security is “not going away” and that it will “liberate” Los Angeles from its democratically elected mayor and governor. The fascism is getting more brazen by day.

Seems worth noting that Noem's story is that "no one knew who" Padilla was. Hmmm. You're in CA with US marines in LA. CA.... I think two senators? You don't know what one of the state's two senators looks like?

Calls grow for Kristi Noem to resign in the wake of Padilla incident

If that’s what they do to a United States Senator with a question, imagine what they can do to any American that dares to speak up. We will hold this administration accountable.

Incredible moments tonight from the courageous, powerful press conference from @gavinnewsom.bsky.social.....

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."  -Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953

Yes he’s a dictator. No he doesn’t have to remove elections to prove that. He just hasn’t done it yet.

Fascinating

Palmer: Charges should be brought against each one of you AOC: Raising the prospect of charges against witnesses is a form of intimidation is it not? Palmer: I strike those words

America 🇺🇸 This U.S. marine has a message that is worth listening to👇🏼 His message speaks for itself!! #DemVoice1 #DemsUnited #ProudBlue

Reminder that seven Democratic senators voted to confirm Kristi Noem and six Dem senators declined to vote either way. She was confirmed, 59-34. The good faith experiment is clearly over, and we need the Democratic senators who didn't stand against her nomination to be loud as hell right now.

SEN. PADILLA: “Saying I lunged is a lie, but that’s par for the course for this administration… I was behind the cameras listening, and at a certain point hearing Noem say they had to rescue LA from the Governor and Mayor was too much to take. So I raise my voice to ask a question.”

Just so we're all clear: It's not a coincidence that the first senator they've used physical force against is Sen. Alex Padilla, a Latino man representing California.

If a senator is no longer allowed to ask pointed questions at a public press conference, our democracy is in real peril. This is a step toward authoritarianism that cannot be ignored.

The Supreme Court unanimously revived a lawsuit from a pair of Atlanta residents seeking to hold the federal government accountable after FBI agents mistakenly battered down their front door and held them at gunpoint during a predawn raid of the wrong house.

In an early morning raid, ICE agents are seen chasing farmworkers through an Oxnard field. The raids coming as the federal government ramps up immigration enforcement in Southern California. Those raids triggering condemnation from local leaders and backlash from some in the community.

clip from the AP live stream of Padilla's remarks... "If this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question, you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers... We will hold this administration accountable."

If a US Senator is not safe from being handcuffed and detained for free speech, none of us are safe.

🚨BREAKING: A senior official in DHS held a briefing for a far-right anti-voting group on Thursday, according to an email sent by the group. The virtual meeting was to discuss how a database run by the department can be used to verify the citizenship status of registered voters.

“The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that.”

I just spoke with @padilla.senate.gov. He’s standing strong. The DHS statement is wildly inaccurate and filled with falsehoods. The video shows you everything you need to know.

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.

When you go out there, don’t march for the Democratic Party, a candidate, not your state, or even your constitution. March for your community, your neighbours, friends, family, yourself. You aren’t marching for political dominance but survival and security for those you love. You are defending.

Today they have crossed a deep red line. We, the people, must hold the president and his appointees accountable for this outrageous abuse against American liberty.

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference. But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.

It’s completely insane that US troops are illegally deployed to suppress domestic opposition and it’s not uniformly condemned by the press and political elite.

Sen. Alex Padilla, who was just forcibly removed from a DHS press conference, is the ranking member of Judiciary’s subcommittee on immigration, citizenship, and border safety, which has “oversight of federal agencies with citizenship, asylum, refugee, and immigration enforcement responsibilities.”

Don't just say it's unconstitutional, remind people that the constitution is full of very good ideas designed to prevent authoritarianism, and most people who want to ignore it want that specifically because they are authoritarian.

I just wanna say something really plainly that I haven’t seen spelled out like this There is no such thing as legal immigration anymore. Because they are taking people at their citizenship hearings they are taking people who are doing everything by the book. 1/2

Along with abolishing ICE we should abolish all for-profit prison companies in the country.

An important line that suggests Judge Farbiarz could be on the brink of ordering Mahmoud Khalil released (h/t NYT): Judge Farbiarz finds that it is “overwhelmingly likely that the Petitioner would not be detained based solely on” newly added charges based on alleged minor misstatements on a form.

PAY ATTENTION: They didn’t just erase our history. They criminalized it. Now they’re banning every page that tells the truth. But we remember. And we wrote it down.

Nothing and Nowhere is off limits..... 👇 ICE agents make arrest at Los Angeles area church. ktla.com/news/local-n...

No solidarity protests for the United States from its “greatest ally”.

Two Los Angeles protestors vs dozens of cops. They locked in against the ICE ethnic cleansing. #3E #StopICE
