If you have pipes in exterior walls, yeah I would drip both hot and cold (along with opening the cabinet doors). If you have no exterior wall plumbing I would still drip to keep the main line coming in from freezing. I've had my washer hookups dripping for a few days as well as tubs (in OK).

I've only dealt with PTP on a flat network, is the problem that WSL is on a different (virtual internal) subnet? Can you route PTP?

I have this problem too. To combat this as soon as I exit the door I stop for a few seconds and pat my pockets which usually is enough to remind myself of anything I forgot.

I've used Texas PoE's adapters to extract the DC voltage to power pretty much anything USB powered. At one point I used them to turn a non-PoE powered switch into a PoE powered switch, which was pretty cool to have external power + up link in a single cable.

I don't do attics either, which is why I asked a coworker that doesn't mind climbing around one to come over and help pull the cables, 10/10 would recommend.
