“…this morning, from a war zone half a world away, I was reading about your election. And for the first time in days, I exhaled. A small, almost invisible breath. Relief. And then came gratitude… You didn’t just choose kindness or experience… You chose not to flirt with fascism.” From Ukraine.

We all have a say in how true this is. No matter how hard it seems, keep fighting every day to make it wrong.

I’m often surprised at how people want to dismiss the role of media and info environment, and use class as an explanation for politics. Marx was smart and forward-thinking. But too many today are still locked in his class-first analysis. We need more information-first analysis.

An underrated driver of all the reactionary nonsense of the last decade: wealthy tech bosses deciding that their workers have become too uppity. That's a big reason the elite class didn't celebrate Biden's full-employment economy -- they don't like empowered workers! www.wsj.com/tech/tech-ca...

I'm sorry but people really have to stop pretending that individuals being mean to other individuals "causes" fascism. NO. Oppressors have oppress marginalized people AS A KEY COMPONENT OF FASCISM. There's just a lot of confusion in the land and we need clarity.

The face of the Conservative party: vote for our candidate or we will break up the country. Poilievre's closer pitch really sucks. Preston Manning and his quislings can either respect Canadian democracy or move to the US. www.ctvnews.ca/federal-elec...

This is what happens when you let extremists and fanatics get a foot in the door - they try to grab it all. "And I think the church is called to be the authoritative word over the land and carry authority so that when we speak, the world listens and the world obeys." We do NOT want this in Canada.

Has anyone ever said "My rights are a distraction?" It's always someone else's rights, right?

The Wealthy In This Country Would Poison Us For The Sake Of Profit!!!

ah yeah so if this is true, these figures are comparable to where we were with COVID-19 on about March 9, 2020.

From the B Channel... Made my fucking day 😂😂😂

NEW: The entire NIH payment system is currently frozen for all grantees. This is tied to DOGE’s new “Defend the Spend” caper, reported in today’s Post, which has already led to payment cutoffs to doctors and health workers at hospitals treating the poor.

More people should pause before lashing out at folks who share their hatred of this administration and ask themselves, "Am I using this person as a punching bag because I don't know how to strike back at the people responsible for all of the kidnappings, killings, deportations, and destruction?"

MAGA is a death cult

Eating food from the US may make you sick, and the FDA won't warn you.

I hope seeing Kilmar Abrego Garcia alive will convince some of you to stop preemptively declaring people dead. I know it comes from a place of fear, but cynicism and pessimism can demobilize people and lead folks to give up before a fight is lost. Let's not seed that attitude.

Absolutely extraordinary. Bullies require bluster and you must confront them.

@columbiauniversity.bsky.social, you could've been patriots who had the stalwart support of the American people + fellow universities. You sit on $18BILLION but sold out your students for millions. History will record the stark contrast between the capitulation of Columbia and heroism of Harvard.

This is what Trump wants for us.

China has suspended exports of certain rare earth minerals and magnets to the US and around the world. China is drafting a new regulatory approach to the minerals to prevent them reaching American companies

People ask me how I don't succumb to despair. 1. We don't really have that luxury 2. If I feel hopelessness creeping in, I reframe the situation to accurately see what's happening and what is to come: I am reminding myself that a post-Tr*mp era is coming and we decide what it looks like.

Awesome to see corporate media covering this event. April 5th was just the beginning. There are protests literally every day across the US. Peaceful protest is now normalized. It's our duty and our right. It's as American as apple pie.

Screamingly huge red flag. If elected, Poilievre will interfere in Canadian science funding policies. With everything going on in the US right now, this is a comment that you only make very deliberately.

The US government has 10,000 times the surveillance capacity today than it did in 1969.

Some people love to invoke the Black Panther Party. Are you all aware of what the US government did to the Panthers? Are you aware that some Panthers [the ones they didn't kill] are STILL in prison today?

I think the stock market has a better shot at bouncing back from this moment than the forests or the oceans or the kids who don't get their health care or their school lunches or the sea ice. At least the stock market seems to have some billionaires standing up for it, sort of.

Tapper's furrowed brow and exaggerated wounded innocence is just the icing on the cake. ZERO accountability on how the media reported during the campaign that tilted the field for Trump over and over again.

#OrangeMonday dawns

Germany is considering withdrawing approximately 1,200 tons of gold, valued at around $124 billion, from a U.S. Federal Reserve vault in New York due to security concerns over Trump.

Canadians are coming together to defend our country and democracy. Conservatives on the other hand are saying vote for Poilievre or they will break up the country. Playing the traitor card is not a good look for Canada's Mini Me Trump. Here's my latest: substack.com/home/post/p-...
