“as the big parties abandon net-zero, the Green party becomes more relevant than ever, but the leadership must resist the pressure to pander to progressives and focus on building a coalition that transcends the left-right divide”. Got to keep the enemy in sight. www.bloomberg.com/opinion/arti...

please spare a thought for the gammonati x https://www.normalisland.co.uk/p/british-patriots-distraught-to-hear

Haha this is like asking teenagers to tidy their room - never going to happen. www.reuters.com/sustainabili...

2024 set a grim record for tropical forest loss, with Bolivia losing 1.5M hectares, a 200% surge and Brazil clearing 6,288 km² of Amazon, largely due to fires set for soy, cattle, and sugarcane production. Climate-driven droughts also turned these fires into megafires, fueling a cycle of destruction

And so it starts. #OurAuthoritarianFuture #2073Film Innocuous but still like a crack in the ice you're standing on www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

How come the US energy market is so f***ed up? www.propublica.org/article/oreg...

Voluntary carbon markets, carbon taxes, targeted emissions regulations, emissions trading schemes: none provide the level of carbon pricing that business and industry around the world need. Here's why, and how another approach works ⬇️ ecocore.org/strong-carbo... #EnergyTransition

These guys actually posted this on ex-twitter and survived without losing their account. Kudos. Plays nicely into our EcoCounts film night of Asif Kapadia's 2073 www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX3v... @ledbydonkeys.org

Local boy Asif Kapadia ("Amy", "Warrior", "Diego") is collaborating with EcoCounts to put on a special screening of his new film "2073" in Camden, Monday May 19th. Please sign up on Eventbrite to reserve your free seats before they all go. ecocounts-film-night-2073-and-qa-may-19.eventbrite.co.uk

If everyone emitted CO2 like the bottom 50% of global population, we would have minimal additional warming since 1990. Addressing this is crucial for fair & effective climate action. Carl-Friedrich Schleussner, Humboldt University Berlin "Two-thirds of global warming caused by world's richest 10%"

FACTCHECK: Almost all the headlines on Tony Blair / net-zero are *wildly* inaccurate REALITY: 1️⃣Net-zero is *only way* to stop warming 2️⃣Blair calls for tech to "turbocharge our path to net-zero" 3️⃣He categorically *does not* say "net-zero is doomed to fail" 🧵 1/6

We have a new author on the EcoCore blog, taking an economic look at personal carbon trading, facets of which we are using in EcoCore's carbon accounts concept. Take a look at her article on this too often ignored policy. ecocore.org/personal-car...

The one hugely useful climate policy that is almost completely ignored today. EcoCore is out to change that. ecocore.org/personal-car... #CarbonMarkets #EnergyTransition #Climate

This is what most people really think 😆 so will we ever get the chance to see how wrong it is? @tbtoro.bsky.social

What sort of increase is this? Looking for the right numbers for a pitch deck on climate action. From 200 to 800 in 40 years is a quadrupling, right?

EcoCore's Carbon Accounts framework didn't envisage policy overlap with the carbon markets. It was already broad enough but when it became obvious how great the improvement to the markets could be, we had to bring them into the framework ecocore.org/how-to-impro... #EnergyTransition
