This Pride Month, I’m celebrating the quiet revolution of being myself — curls, curves, and all. Trans joy is real, and thriving. 💖

Hi there 🦆 I’m a PhD student in biology and sometimes I draw. Happy pride month 🏳️‍🌈

It's been a while since I posted a Fish #FluorescenceFriday, but I had to take a second to share this image from Nisha showing a larval gut with two mitotic nuclei in yellow, and gorgeous secretory cells in magenta. I looove the slender projections on the secretory cells!

Watching the relentless onslaught against trans and gender-noncorming researchers in the States is exhausting. I can't imagine what it must be like for those living through these times. This is such an important call.

Yup, and there are some great color choices for merging or contrasting images. e.g.

It is a Great Honour to receive the 'Les Grandes Avancées en Biologie' award 🏅 from the @academiesciences.bsky.social and to share our work during this fabulous day celebrating Science. Thank you! @hassanbraindevlab.bsky.social @institutducerveau.bsky.social @frm-officiel.bsky.social

Interesting postdoc opportunity at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Another moment of imaging joy by Lena, This one reveals the vasculature surrounding a fish gut in magenta, and gut-associated phagocytes in cyan. In my mind, all these phagocytes are wearing bowler hats and bouncing off each other saying "'scuse me governor" in cockney accents.

👏👏👏👏👏

[eating crab legs] Oooooh, look at you, God's perfect organism. Evolution's favorite design. How's that exoskeleton working out for you, you delicious bastard?

Eternally grateful for those guys willing to put time aside to explain my work to me with such ardour that I don't even have to worry about getting a word in.

I shed one silent tear at the realisation that this is even possible.

I was once held in an embarrassing headlock by an inebriated Nobel laureate.

Boston's No Kings parade tomorrow would have clashed with the Pride Parade so the city has decided to lump everything together and call it "NO KINGS, but YAAAAS Queen!" Go Boston!

What an amazing resource! Congrats, Jeff and team!!

I am speaking at 20th International Congress of Developmental Biology. Please check out my talk if you're attending the event! I hope to see you there! #DevBio 💪🏽 @socdevbio.bsky.social

time to dust down the "I hope you're doing well in these challenging times" email from the early COVID days.

My attempt at a brief timeline cleanse. Lena shared this snapshot of her recent gut imaging, showing blood cells in yellow, macrophages in white, and secretory intestinal epithelial cells in magenta. The extent to which macrophages spread along the gut is 🤩

If randomly kidnapping people (including first grade kids) from places of work, education, worship, and immigration appointments and disappearing them without due process to foreign prisons does not meet your definition of fascism, then your definition of fascism is wrong.

This is a welcome opportunity for early and mid-career folks committed to equity in STEM: "2030STEM x BWF fellows will reinvent career advancement for individual STEM professionals, and strengthen and accelerate culture change in STEM institutions."

Lots of my Canadian friends are rightfully horrified at events in the States, but make no mistake, the wolves are already among us in Canada.

I find grant reviewing one of the hardest parts of this job. The caliber of science is so high, and funding is far too, but I always appreciate how incredibly hard everyone involved (including CIHR staff!) works to ensure that each grant is treated fairly.

Grant reviewing is the hardest part of this job, but then Lena sends this amazing movie of a fish gut with blood cells in yellow, macrophages in green and secretory epithelial cells in magenta, and suddenly everything is good again!

Great opportunity to come work with us at SFU!!! 👇

When they're both Jade!

After an exhausting day in a grant review panel, I can't imagine a juicer tea that this! 😂

Looks like I’ve got another move across the world in me! 🌏✈️📦 I'll be starting at @uniofbath.bsky.social in a few weeks as senior lecturer/associate prof in human microbiome. Excited to be back in Europe + for new collabs (alongside ongoing 🇦🇺🇬🇧🇫🇮🇸🇪🇦🇹 ones). Thanks to everyone who helped; more soon!

#Zebrafish people, this is our time to shine. Let's help keep an important resource up so we can keep talking shit about flies for many many years

Hello @bsky.app! We’re excited to have made the transition over to BlueSky 🦋 and are already excited to be part of the fantastic #immunology community!

Semi-annual update to our "flish" lab mascot, introducing bubbles, because any self-respecting fly-fish hybrid has to produce bubbles underwater!
