I drive a car and like you , I see car drivers go through red every day. So do you. The vast majority are not prosecuted. It’s rare a cyclist will injure or kill another road user.

Our town has a busy main road. The pedestrian crossing is 20 meters left of the car park exit from Tesco. Every day numerous cars go through red on those lights. Every year there are several crashes when a non local driver leaving Tescos thinks all cars drivers stop on red. Let’s stop car drivers?

We were discussing this precise point today with friends who were thinking of going walking in Ireland taking their dog. I cycle a lot in North West Cork and pointed out that it’s common to see people walk their dogs in the roads though all around is countryside to which no one has access

Dr Norah Patten is an Irish scientist preparing to go to space.. She’s very active on Instagram as ‘Space Norah’ and does a lot of work around getting girls interested in science and space in Ireland. I don’t think she’s on Bluesky
