I outline our plan for our new defence bank www.thetimes.com/article/265b...

While the Norwegians soberly play the diplomatic equivalent of Hnefatafl (a Viking version of chess), Russia is engaged in a geopolitical version of buza, a performative mix of folk dance and martial arts

If you've made plans for the weekend, it's best to cancel them. Why go outdoors and spend time with your so-called "loved ones" when you could watch the frequency of the Baltic power grid instead? 😎 Disconnecting from 🇷🇺 today. Connecting to 🇵🇱 tomorrow. baltic-grid.sympower.net?fbclid=IwZXh...

Excellent piece of @edwardlucas.bsky.social Trump could lay out the groundwork-> weaken EU and allies of US, destroying democracy of US, creating chaos and making a wedge between EU and US. In that way he can easily retract or refusing military help in the Baltics if Putin is going for a land grab.

"Ukraine may not be formally a member of Nato, but it is a Nato proxy, and defeat there will mark the end of the alliance’s credibility." @edwardlucas.bsky.social

Spot on assessment by @edwardlucas.bsky.social .. all these exceptional anchor dragging excuses are, well, exceptionally ridiculous ..

Important piece by @edwardlucas.bsky.social on (implausibly deniable) Russian sabotage of critical sub-sea infrastructure.

this week's @cepa column. The supposedly halcyon days of May 2016 were an illusion. The new era will be messy. But so was the cold war cepa.org/article/guil...

"In short: Britain’s government is gambling that allies care more about its defence than it does. An odd definition of leadership." @edwardlucas.bsky.social

While other NATO allies are investing in defense and security, Britain is falling behind. @edwardlucas.bsky.social highlights the British goal for the Eastern front to block any attacks from Russia, but the UK must stand firm against Europe’s aggressor.

Given the extraordinary amount of Russian naval activity around Baltic Sea today I thought I'd summarize what I saw: * Corvette and sub stalks Finnish tanker NW Anholt * Three navy tugs doing racetracks south Anholt * Corvette enters Kattegatt from south cont ....

Akhmat special forces commander Apti Alaudinov recorded a video with Russian Neo-Nazi and Rusich Group leader Alexey Milchakov. "We have found a common language, we have discussed all the points, and the work ... will continue in the common interests we have agreed on," Milchakov stated.

1/2 Is this why the UK media ignores or downplays Russian missile attacks on Ukraine? It seems UK has enough air defence missiles "only for the first day of a war, after which stockpiles would be exhausted and defences overwhelmed..."

excellent read. “It’s a huge risk, not yet fully grasped,” says Lord West of Spithead, a former naval chief. Ireland’s feeble defences make it a particularly weak spot. “If Ireland goes down, we will too,” says Tom Tugendhat, the former security minister
