My Latine/Latinx friends and family are queer and queer-adjacent folks who use Latine or Latinx.
There’s no analogy here. There are people being butthurt about using language that includes queer folks and pretending it’s for reasons of grammatical purism.

Sure, and there are white people who say “I have nothing against nonbinary people but I won’t call a single person they because grammar.” Lots of people complain about inclusive language. They’re still wrong.

Yeah I was thinking the same. Many states are organized into arbitrary school districts, or schools are by county, so the school budget isn’t part of the city budget. Boston’s largest item is education, because schools in MA are by city/town. Second is “public safety” all lumped together. 🙄

Yeah, that happens at meetings in Boston too.
I have a disabled young adult child who can't drive, can cycle. Cannot "just go around" into 35mph traffic or "just lift the bike over the whatever is in the way."
Bike lanes are disability infrastructure.

Same. I stopped wearing any Celtic iconography as well, even though I'm literally Irish.
I'd rather not put the labor of wondering whether I'm safe or not on people of color just because I won't stop wearing jewelry or LARPing with a sword.

Muting you for not engaging in good faith. All people are responsible for trying their best to be inclusive. If you have some degree of ability to post and generate language, but put absolutely nothing in your alt field, that’s ableist behavior. No one remotely said your alt usage must be skilled.

As I said in my other comment, if someone puts in the alt field that they’re having trouble with word retrieval or syntax etc., totally fine, and people will help. If they just ignore alt entirely, they’re signaling they don’t care about accessibility.

Yes, quite aware as someone who performs LD evals. Did you read the OP? The tip is to copy-paste the text into the alt field. That doesn’t require generating language.
