There was an F-1 tornado that touched down south of us, so we had strong winds and thunderstorms. Fortunately, no damage to our farm. A church neighbor's barns and sheds were destroyed. No one got hurt.

To me, the character interaction seemed important because it built the world, but the reader would wonder, why does this matter?
