Great broad and balanced piece Chris. My quibble: I don't think it is the start of enforcement of laws that holds back the "algorithmic protection that people really want".

But even that needs challenging as the "verifiable" just isn't true, and indeed technologically near impossible. What they pretend to verify is benchmarks of subjectively chosen "risky" or "clever" prompts. And they award themselves high marks for any score above 50%.
