Love the reference here to my fav ep of ST Voyager. As long as they keep us arguing for healthcare, they keep us from arguing against capitalism itself.

“Traditional values” is code for “white and heterosexual.”

I knew it: been saying this since the campaign: Trump thinks tariffs are an alternative to income taxes. I told y’all he was that stupid.

Fielding a question about D.C. home rule, Trump speaks of unhoused human beings as if they were weeds in his lawn: “You can’t have tents all over your…magnificent plazas, lawns and all. We can’t have that in D.C.”

All this slashing and burning just to give tax cuts to billionaires… Their coming after the kids now, at the Dept. of Education. But hey. I guess poor and uneducated is easier to exploit anyway!

“Indirect costs” or contract support costs are absolutely essential to funding the operations of Tribal medical centers. Really hope that’s not next on the chopping block at NIH.

It’s true that foreign aid is often used to coerce the Global South, but they don’t actually care about that. What they don’t like is the AID part. The global majority is rising, and they see the writing on the wall. This is part of an effort to reverse that (minimal) progress.

Constitutional Crisis truly begins when Musk and/or Trump cancel Congressionally mandated payments. Notice I said when, not if.

So basically the plan is to kick out the Palestinians and create “Boca Gaza?”

Imagine just casually proposing a war crime. Trump discusses ethnically cleansing the people of Gaza like he’s discussing the price of butter… But hey I guess that’s just Tuesday in America these days.

So… The media is either bowing to fascism Or… The media is bowing to fascism. I’m just not sure which, ya know?

Like any declining empire, the U.S. is seeking to consolidate its control over its traditional sphere of influence - namely, the Americas and the Pacific. This is what Greenland and the Panama Canal is really about.

Libs in the WAPO chat be like: “Call your congressional rep - demand they end Musk’s access!” Like bruh what’s Congress gonna do? Issue some subpoenas they’ll just ignore? Where y’all been at?

The truth is that “DEI” is usually a dog whistle. They don’t believe it’s even possible that a minority or a woman could be as competent as a strait white man. That’s what they really mean.

I think Trump wants a concession from Mexico to allow U.S. troops on their soil to go after the cartels, which he just designated “foreign terrorist organizations.” Either that or “fentanyl” is just a pretext for tariffs he already intends to impose.

youtube.com/watch?v=VYeu... The firm I work for was involved in the amicus briefs. Very happy to work there when I see stuff like this:

Say what you want about Carter, but he was the only U.S. president to have been right on Palestine. RIP.

Cannot believe places can make it “illegal” to sleep outside. Reminiscent of the BlackCodes in the postwar South. The point in both cases being to criminalize the “undesirables.” Oh and apparently they trash their few meager possessions while they’re at it.

Apparently an unelected billionaire can unilaterally tank a bipartisan govt funding bill….. So I think the question now is: how is this NOT an oligarchy??

“constantly to suspect, to criticize the given determinations of culture, of institutions, of legal systems - not in order to destroy them or simply to cancel them, but to be just with justice, to respect this relation to the other as justice.” - Derrida

In Washington, DC, a tax on residents earning more than $250,000 a year is boosting the wages of child care workers. Two years in, it's proving to be a great investment.

They don’t like USPS because it’s effective. It’s a large model of a non-capitalist enterprise, an alternative to the profit-seeking corporation. Could give the common people ideas about nationalizing other services…that’s why they really want to gut it.
