Lost Albertan doing an Applied Econ PhD at the University of Minnesota. I try to study the Economic History of Agriculture, and regularly get my heart broken by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Today, Prince is honoured throughout Canada. Several streets are named for him, as is Sgt. Tommy Prince School in Scanterbury, Manitoba. A Heritage Minute was also released about his life. He was on the shortlist to appear on Canada's $5 bill. youtube.com/watch?v=4Rrt... 🧵19/20

Northwest Passage - Stan Rogers (1981): The fourth album from Rogers, it was heavily focused on the life and history of the Canadian West. It was his last album released before his sudden death on June 2. 1983. It featured his iconic song Northwest Passage.

I’m going to present some work in which I try to figure out why wheat yields don’t seem to have improved much during an Era we refer to as the Wheat Boom. Hopefully I have a good answer for this ā€œcliff hangerā€ by the conference 😁😬 virtual.oxfordabstracts.com/event/73715/...

Ironically I’m currently working on a project where I very much wish I could do that. Unfortunately, the farmers in question don’t seem to pick up the phone much because the planting decisions I want to ask about occurred in 1901.

@jmorenocruz.bsky.social I wish very much that I could attend this session as it’s probably the closest to my own research but for some reason the schedule gremlins have me presenting at the same time… is this something that happens to everyone at conferences or is it just me lol.

Pre-docs are so competitive these days. It's a shame, these mushrooms seem to be so talented at natural log transformations.

So glad I stocked up on Canadian goods back in January.
