Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed. - Mahatma Gandhi -

12,873 more signatures needed, and we'll have it over that line. (Also worth searching 'trans' and 'transgender' on the petitions site every so often and signing anything positive that you've missed [see also 'disabled', 'disability' right now, especially given the government's actions over PIP])

Huge thanks to The Secret Bookshelf in the dealers room at Eastercon Belfast who were selling rare editions of my books for me and to everyone who bought them! We raised £500 for The Triangle Project in South Africa and @goodlawproject.bsky.social's legal campaign to fight for trans rights in the UK

...This only needs 26,160 signatures to get to the 100,000 signature mark and the point where they have to schedule a debate. I was pushing to get it across the *10,000* line what feels like barely a few weeks ago. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

You knowe the cool thinge about Gen AI? The thinge that trulye doth redeem it? Aye, me neither. Let it be derided. Let it be abandonid. Let it take fortunes down in its wake. Let it be a cautionarye tale. Let it be a joke for centuryes.

Maybe we should honor the women who were real astronauts. From left to right are Shannon W. Lucid, Margaret Rhea Seddon, Kathryn D. Sullivan, Judith A. Resnik, Anna L. Fisher, and Sally K. Ride. NASA selected all six women as their first female astronaut candidates in January 1978.

literally everything. it's gonna be rough. Check for authors you like. see if they have a ko-fi, a patreon, a subscription service, buy their books (paper to preserve the most at-risk for censorship authors, your local indie, etc) and talk about those books to spread word of mouth. please.

Stop using AI. Yes, even just for fun. AI is built on STOLEN images and text. That’s right: by using it, you’re stealing from your friends. There is NOT ethical generative AI. Bonus bullshit: it is HORRENOUS for the environment. (Yes, even the cutesy profile photo cartoon things.)

Wryteres, creators, scoleres, and artistes often (not alwayes) are weirde yn a goode way. Thei challenge norms, seek change, and are not keen on bullshit. Thys must be the appeal of Gen A.I. Profit-based orgs kan get (bad) art wythout the difficultye of dealinge with people who questioun thinges.

🤨🏳️‍🌈⁉️ I NEED TO SEE THIS IMMEDIATELY!!!

If you are planning a webinar or talk on AI and discussing the negatives and aren’t including copyright issues and intellectual theft, how much it gets wrong, or environmental impacts, then you are not doing the topic justice.

LIBERATION, my science fiction tale of a Nigerian space mission, is available for preorder at all good ebook stores. It is (or should be) DRM free. It's out on the 16th of April.

If the UK government agrees to a wholesale undoing of copyright, to excuse Meta's massive theft of books, art, movies etc as 'data', then the creative industries and all of us working in them are finished. All viewers and readers will get in future is unoriginal, derivative slop. #MetaBookThieves

ChatGPT consumes so much water and energy each week that it could power entire countries for YEARS and folk act like you told them to kill their selves cause you want them to write their own emails and not to steal art. 😂

Copyright law is clear. If you want to use a creator's original, copyright work for any purpose, you need to get their permission and agree payment. Copyright law does not need revising. It needs enforcing. #DoTheWriteThing

My cartoon for this week’s @newscientist.com

Among other information, includes clarification that she did not overstay her visa, and she did establish beforehand that ESTA rules permitted her visit as planned. Border officials said different - wrongly according to her lawyer - and she was detained.

We just wanted to take a moment to thank all our new supporters! Tomorrow, there will be more of us!

It's come to my attention that some people believe you can't buy a new book until you've read the books you already have. Let me assure you, as both a lawyer and a writer, that this idea is legally and morally WRONG and BAD. Buy more books.

Peter David created a “New Frontier” of STAR TREK novels, made the Hulk interesting for once in a long while and turned X-FACTOR into an NYC mutant detective agency with funny, fascinating characters. He should not be *begging for medical help* but that’s America for you. Please chip in if you can!
