How you know my workout schedule is pretty predictable: Me, to friends today: “It feels like a Wednesday.” Friends: “IT DOES!!”

Spent the weekend dealing with cognitive overhead, capped off by a discussion with someone that removed a lot of what had sent me into emotional overload in the first place. Journaled a bit this weekend as well. I have a feeling this is going to be core to keeping me grounded in this season.

Had a couple of phone calls with friends this morning and tidied as I did so. Third load of laundry is going, house is half vacuumed, and I'm feeling better bit by bit, sitting here on the couch with a book and my knitting.

Pretty amazed at how much 9 hours of sleep can help with my dysregulation.

This week's reflection: "You will need to rest your way back to normalcy." Between the disruption of jury service, a school event, probably six extra hours of meetings, and all the stuff happening out there *waves in general*, I feel wrung out at the end of the week.

Borrowed a fleece drape poncho today, and I was... surprised? by how much I liked it.

Me, yesterday: “Ooh, that’s going to bruise.” Me, today: *takes out a ruler to measure the size of the bruise for bragging rights* 2.5”x3” woooo let’s go

Why I’ll probably be doing yoga at home for quite a while: kitten boxed up on my back while I was in pigeon pose, then boxed up on my chest for shavasana 🥹

… it’s me.

Reminded today that I should definitely put the focus of my cursor on something I don't mind my kittens typing into when they stand on the keyboard.

Before I forget, the bigger kitten lost his first tooth on Sunday and a second yesterday! 🥲

Jury dismissed! Part of the craziness over these past few weeks was being selected for a jury. We were dismissed before we got to deliberations, but it was a fascinating view into the justice system. Thankful for the experience and thankful it's over.

Neighbors are having a bumping party outdoors, as it’s a nice day out. I really hope to high heaven they’re going to turn it down way before 10pm, because 5am is going to come awfully quickly this Daylight Savings Sunday 😵‍💫

Missed last week! (I'll share the reason later this month.) This week's reflection: "The people around you who support you are a big part of who you are and how you survive. These people are a gift." Was talking with a colleague today about mentors and support structure. I have a good thing.

That time you rapidly find the PERFECT @xkcd.com cartoon to insert into the video conference chat.

Remembering how my dad told me in my 20s to save for my retirement as if Social Security wouldn’t be around when I retired.

Just did this itinerary yesterday. Schedule: 6:50am out, 8pm back. 5am wake up time (I do this once a week about 40 Sundays a year, so this is kind of... not unusual). Made it through until about 7:30pm before I started getting SUPER sleepy. This wouldn't have been a problem, except...

Found myself making a winter melon, spare rib, and soybean soup with a ginger base. It’s my childhood in a bowl 😋

In other news, bought eggs for the first time in months, and 😮‍💨

Me, gearing up to write another message to my senators and representative: "Uhhh which of these things should I write about today?" 🧐

One of the kittens has had two double fangs. Tonight, he lost one of his baby teeth during a tooth brushing session! Another milk tooth to go before I can cancel the vet visit.

Okay, so here's my bit of a rant about resumes. To be clear: Adobe has autoresponders, but the key filter here is the talent recruiter. I made a commitment to reading every resume to a) save her some headache and b) ensure I got to interview the people who had the experience I was looking for.

Lesson from sparring: low-high. Make your opponent worried about a flurry of attacks at one height (low) until they're complacent, and then hit them with something high, where they don't expect it.

Lesson from sparring: get your leg in early. When grappling in the guard (opponent between your legs), it’s really easy to stay flat on your back. But your best bet is to get a leg in between you and your opponent to create a wedge for an arm bar or a reversal.
