@ben.gracewood.nz how old was that system you looked after and him many times did they try to replace it?

You assume a lot of sophistication that likely just isn't there. n lock events x 12km = y (multiplied by something else to make it sound even more impressive)

Shoo, she's a close one!

I've always hated in ear of any kind, but the Samsung Buds 2 Pro are actual comfortable (and remarkably good). But then I'm not an Apple guy (hence my parody profile pic)

Good observations. I was surprised when you joined a bank and not when you left.

Willing to bet it's a choice for the type of house you can get cheaper, not a have-to.

But...if you live in Rodney you can't really expect everyone else to subsidize your far-away travel. I mean, no congestion charges proposed for getting to *your* CBD.

Nope. Experience says otherwise.

I used to live in Auckland. The one thing I do miss is my daily bike commute. I broke my car dependency and helped others do the same. Universally, they thanked me for it. It's not about hating on cars, but just trying to use them less.

I'd argue that the vast majority of Aucklanders could find ways to drive less and enjoy life more while doing so.

Agree, but I think we need to change the narrative and make alternatives available before "punishment". It is already viable in our major cities so let's start there.

Disagree, I actually like it, but hey... some people have soy π΅βπ«

I only buy locally processed stuff. But you are right, monocultures are also not eco. Though one thing is probably a bit better than the other (a field of oats vs a field of cows)
comment in response to
post
I think only the Boring is processed locally. A big plant (!) is being built in Chch.

No, but pretty sure that overall it's better. I can see the destruction caused by over-dairying our landscapes. I think we have too cows, so I'd rather reward the oat farmers than the pasturalists.

Me either. I prefer grain juice blended with a small amount of seed oil. Better than lactate from the nipples of a grass muncher

Aren't you willing to drink crap for the sake of the environment?

It doesn't taste weird, it just doesn't taste like cows milk. If you are willing to eat porridge you'd be ok. I'm still not willing to have it in tea though.
