Okay, I have to start somewhere. If you write queer and/or trans genre fiction, will you please link me your work? The first step to creating the bookstore and community space I want is supporting the authors it's meant to represent. 💙📚

Going in to 2025, its important that you *actually own* the queer and trans literature you consume. That's why for ebooks you should always look for DRM-free storefronts like Itch, or an author/publisher's website, where you can buy a downloadable .epub you can read anywhere, and is yours forever

On that note: Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day. Cis people: Repost trans authors' book links. Cis people who want to complain about being excluded: gtfo

Indie bookselling tends to be romanticized as ‘cause work’ which is used to argue that booksellers should tolerate grossly low pay because it’s just so cool and fun to sell books! To be this wealthy and not invest in the workers who make that possible is actually not cool or fun.

Small update and hello to the (300ish 🫠) new followers. Because of the much needed job that I just took, the prospective bookstore side of this account is going to have to pause for a bit. Maybe only for the holidays, we'll see. I will, however, forever and always be here championing trans authors.

There are gonna be disabled folks who can't contribute anything to The Cause. They have no money, no energy, no physical ability, no time. They will need to receive and will never be able to give back. You gotta save them, too. Especially them.

for anyone trying to extricate yourself from the clutches of Amazon: bookstores make more than a third of their money between now & New Year’s, & most bookstores ship nationwide 💌

No.

If you're looking for a queer book about killing tyrants to show up at your house in 2025, we will take your angry $25 and make it angrier. (We can also turn an angry $2500 into a ton of angry writing, including a zine of angry gay art.) www.kickstarter.com/projects/dav...

My focus here is genre fiction (SFF/horror/romance) from trans authors, but I will repost and celebrate all trans authors wherever they are publishing. This book looks stunning, and I can't wait to read it.

Seems like there may have been some kind of "share these queer/trans bookish accounts in solidarity" post. Hi, sorry you found me in this moment. Eventually, there will be something substantial here, but at the moment we're just trying to keep our heads above water.

This. This. This.

Since I'm seeing "your local businesses need you more than ever!" posts. Hahahaha no. Your local *people* need you more than ever. Please stop conflating the two. Support specific local businesses if they are actually doing tangible things for the community, but stop assigning virtue to "local."

My wife asked me yesterday, what gives me hope in the system and I had to tell her that I don't have hope in the system. What I have hope in is people because people survive. They live in joy and defiance of the systems that would break them. Things are bleak, but *people* still matter.

Over the next 7 days, we’re offering free ebooks of some of our more relevant — perhaps even inspiring — works of radical literature. Download a copy, share it with friends, then read it together. sevenstories.com/blogs/352-re...

hi, it’s me, your friendly indie bookseller and audiobook narrator. libro.fm costs the same as an Audible subscription. an audiobook on Audible is the same audiobook on Libro. but a portion of your purchase supports the indie bookstore of your choice! you can even see our recommendations!

For those seeking a way to divest from Bezos, I would recommend that you stop using Amazon. For non-book items, try to shop locally. For books, switch your allegiance to the fabulous Bookshop.org. In both my personal and professional lives I've done so, and it's been great.

For audiobooks, libro.fm gets you out of the Bezosphere as well.

Hello again, new folks 👋🏻

For this upcoming anthology, in addition to open submissions, we've solicited stories from some incredible writers and artists and designers. i've had three? phone calls with @sharangbiswas.bsky.social about the solo rpg that he is working up, a genre both he and i have been obsessed with lately.

I wrote some good books you should own.

Are there any trans booksellers following me? It's Patterson Indie Bookseller Bonus season and I'd love to get a trans bookseller an extra $500 this year.

If you're looking for SFF by trans creators, my debut series is The Sacred Dark, a fantasy romance trilogy with trans, non-binary, and queer leads, set in a darkly magical world full of ghosts, witches, and mystery. :) Amazon: tinyurl.com/dzkwawhs Books page: www.maypetersonbooks.com/books/

Apparently there's a thing of trans creators posting links to their work? I have a novel coming next year about a trans woman who teaches her lesbian mom how to be a witch. It's about queer generational trauma and messy gay families.

If trans people are posting their work here today, I’d like to share mine. I’ve written a novel about a freshly-out trans girl who discovers she’s also a magical girl. Chaos/hijinks ensue as she figures out what being a girl - magical & otherwise - is all about. Out later this year! magicariot.com

Apparently people are posting their trans #SFF stories at the moment so, uh, hi. This is me. I wrote this short story and it won an award in 2019. Come December, it will have been out for 5 years. The original publisher went out of business, but you can purchase it here for only $2. #amreading

if you want to read trans stories by a trans person (me). i wrote two about two totally different sides of trans masculinity: “Evan: A Remainder” is a cozy story about Evan coughing an entire skeleton out of his face and realizing … SPOILERS. it has a very good cat. reactormag.com/evan-a-remai...

Reminder that I have a new short story collection this year! If you liked the Trans Space Octopus, or if you don't know the Trans Space Octopus, or if you want to read about people turning into houseplants and non-houseplants - www.brokeneyebooks.com/store/p113/P...

Really going to advise other trans women (and all trans folks, but she focuses primarily on us) to not seek out and read the E. Lily Yu substack. It's grotesque and hateful and nothing you haven't heard before. You don't need to read another bigot's brain-rotted screed comparing us to diseases.

Echoing Nico here, the newsletter is pure transphobic brain rot. It's not worth your time. There is no rational or scientific basis for transphobia. It's just bigotry. The field has numerous trans and nonbinary authors whose work would be a better use of your time. Trans siblings? I love you.

Have been back on survival mode a bit, but considering that substack post (of course it's on substack 🙄) I felt the need to come remind folks that trans authors writing SFF exist and are writing beautiful, fun, heartbreaking, funny, smart work.

there was a new study published *today* in Nature showing that state-level anti-trans laws increase suicide among trans kids up to 72%. when we say that the New York Times (and other rags of equal repute) is killing us, that's because *IT IS LITERALLY KILLING US*

It's time again to plug this thing we do! Just $5 gets you our best issue yet! (Just don't tell the other issues we said that. They're sensitive and we love them all equally.) #writers #scifi #fantasy #anthology #fiction
