I won't keep pretending I believe in tech as a force for good. That ship has sailed, that horse has bolted, and that gutless CEO has already embraced fascism. Instead, I'll call it like I see it, and I see a world in forced decay. www.joanwestenberg.com/im-tired-of-...

"We cast ourselves against the narrative, never realizing that we are only reinforcing another collective story." I wrote more over on Medium: elisadoucette.medium.com/fe1b2bca14eb...

You’ve probably heard The Road Not Taken quoted before, but it might not mean what you think. Frost wasn’t celebrating the "less traveled" path. It's choice, regret, and how we rewrite our stories. elisadoucette.medium.com/fe1b2bca14eb...

In 2016 I sat in a bar on a tiny island in Greece, chatting about the FIRST shitshow. As I sighed heavily, the Greek bar owner chuckled kindly and put his arm around me. "Oh America, still so young a country. Democracy is always tested, but you will stand." I think about this a lot lately.

The same Maine that brings Janet Mills to the national stage also brings Susan Collins. A reminder to elites that the nuance and battle within purple states is much more complex than "Ugh, those uneducated bigoted red-hat idiots."

Anyone else in that stage in their life that even a creepy DM from a person offering to be your sugar daddy isn't worth it, cause with the way your luck goes, it's 💯 one of those scams that's going to drain your savings and steal your Wrap City rewards card?

Anyone have any experience using Voxer for coaching, particularly in short-term mastermind/course styled conversations? I'm curious if it would be useful to students, or "just another thing to do" alongside lessons.

The constant battle within myself to NOT reply to every jackass on the Internet commenting "Who cares?" with "Obviously you do. You commented, you moronic fuckweasel."

Measure the day by what you did with it, not what it did with you.

As long as you are not intentionally causing malice or harm to get ahead by manipulating others, just because you did a bad thing it doesn't mean you are a bad person who is not worthy of love and friendship. Look, if I'm gonna pay for this therapy, we're allllll gonna benefit. 💁‍♀️

"I’m not going to tell you what to think, dear reader. I’m going to explain a few things at the start of the story, and let you draw all those pieces together, to form your own ideas about what is going on." 🔗 elisadoucette.medium.com/7fd93be10d23...

“Show, don’t tell.” Sounds simple, but it can be infuriating. 😅 Chekhov made it look easy with a glint of moonlight and a broken bottle. But does this work for nonfiction? Absolutely. Learn how you can show before you tell in my latest essay: 🔗 elisadoucette.medium.com/7fd93be10d23...

Word of the day is ‘cumber-world’ (14th century): a person or thing that encumbers the planet.

I'm a woman in my mid-40s who just caught a nose-full of pepper while making supper, and had to violently sneeze unexpectedly. Ladies, you know what this means for my comfy cozy soft yoga pants I've been wearing all day. 🤦‍♀️

My 4yo nephew was on a trip to the library when a couple of uppity privileged women, sitting in the playroom, started discussing all the "problems" they think the library has. My nephew played a bit, then walked over to my sister and said loudly "Can we go somewhere else? This room is annoying."

Leave it to a bunch of white women on social media to begrudge and bemoan a Black woman putting up a single post about being infatuatedly in love with her husband after she spent MONTHS taking barbs and hatred for you; only to be tossed aside when she was so obviously the better option. 🙄

You’ve been murdered, who do you want on the case?

Dude got around.

Maybe it isn't about faking it 'til you make it as much as starting where you are and putting in the work (with confidence) to get to where you want to be.

Everyone talks about how fun and pop culture-y Kendrick's absolute slapdown of Drake is, but let's be clear: If someone had called Diddy out so publicly for his shit early on, things might have been different for SO many victims. The Billies and Millies of the world are safer now.

Word of the day is ‘arsle’ (19th century): to have a distinct sense of going backwards.
