Sat in on an ED department meeting and heard from an OBGYN physician talk about practicing during a post-Roe era and the challenges it has presented. Mad respect for OB colleagues who remain in states with vague and quite frankly asinine abortion laws like ours #abortionishealthcare

Went to the Boise State-UNLV game with my kids and had a blast. Definitely wondered if the alcohol consumption I witnessed was going to influence my morning ER shift and the early indications are “yes” #gobroncos #cfpbound

In all seriousness, folks, it's a tragedy that Brian Thompson died. No family should have to watch their loved ones get shot to death. They deserve to watch them slowly & humiliatingly die from preventable or treatable illness that drives them bankrupt so a company can pull in $25B in profit.

Convinced that the only Christmas music I will ever need is The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. Everything else is secondary

As an EM doc, I’ve drilled certain things into my kids heads: 1. No motorcycles 2. No ATVs 3. No mandoline slicers 4. No more than one at a time on the trampoline (and better yet, no trampolines) 5. No table saws 6. No getting on ladders after you turn 65 #emergencymedicine #parenting

I have a 6 year old who has a short temper and can lose it at almost any small insult. After an episode this evening, she walked up to me with a handwritten note saying “Dab, sorry if I was harb on you. I love you. You’re the best dab ever” (“d”s written backwards). #parenting

I enjoy cooking and trying to make new and exotic things, particularly Asian food. My problem is that I always end up spending more getting ingredients and spend way more energy than it would take to just buy a better version at the restaurant.

Every once in a while, I go through stretches where I see a rare diagnosis a lot of times in a short period of time. In residency, if was Acute Angle Closure Glaucoma, recently, it has been Lemierre’s Syndrome (Infected Clot in the IJ vein). Seen 3 cases in the last year. #MedSky

If you see this, post a concert pic! Bon Iver, Outlaw Field @ Idaho Botanical Garden, Boise, Idaho August 2023 This was actually the second time I had seen them, the first being in Taipei, Taiwan in 2016. Both were incredible! #boniver

With all the TV opinion people getting high level government positions, pretty sure the next one will be Buzz Lightyear to lead Space Force #cabinetpicks

I will never back down from my stance that Idaho is the most underrated state in the US. My daughter and I hiked to this beautiful mountain lake this summer which we had all to ourselves all night, other than deer walking around our campsite, mountain bluebirds, and fish jumping on the lake. #idaho

Got around to watching Castle in the Sky, one of the few Studio Ghibli films that I hadn’t seen yet and loved it. Sad that I only have a few more of those films that I get to watch for the first time #studioghibli #anime

Always amazed and inspired by the courage of women who share their abortion stories. So much easier for people to hate what they are ignorant of. I’m convinced that most people will decide to support abortion rights when it becomes human for them #abortionishealthcare

This is Taroko Gorge in Hualien, Taiwan. It’s a beautiful place near my wife’s hometown that not long ago was all but destroyed by a huge earthquake within the last year. This is your daily reminder to always appreciate beauty when you see it, as you never know when it will be gone #tarokogorge

Watching the footage of Biden graciously inviting his successor to the White House despite the failure of Trump to do the same last time is its own kind of victory, even if small. This is how we win: showing the human decency that the other side seems incapable of doing. #thanksjoe

Not long ago, my old beater car died and I had to replace it. Considered a Tesla as I am a millennial, socially and environmentally conscious, and commute a lot but ended up getting a Prius because I couldn’t stand the thought of any of my money ending up in Musk’s pocket. No regrets #boycottmusk

With all the chaos in the world, good to know that beautiful and still places exist

Will never forget telling my daughter “no” on November 6 when she asked “Daddy, did Harris win?”. The message sent to her is that it doesn’t matter how good or competent she is, oftentimes the world picks men. Ready now to keep fighting so that someday, the world will be a more fair place for her.
