Is English Homan's first language? He can barely speak it, but he's looking to kick others out of the country? Curious ...

Go, Philly! ♥️ Can't wait for more details on Pittsburgh, please.

So glad this nonsense is being followed again. During the first term, a site called the Trump Golf Count did the same thing. It's no longer online and I thought that maybe its work wouldn't be replicated during the second term. Very happy to be wrong!

Yes --- where mail-in voting has been allowed (CA, CO, HI, NV, OR, UT, VT and WA state), it's worked exceedingly well. It's the people who want fewer people voting who've fought against it. Guess who led that fight, even during COVID? www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOUI...

Four unions. 1970 was huge, for sure. But further, 1970 shifted the Post Office Dept. from a cabinet-level position for the PM General into the USPS, a merely quasi-governmental organization. As such, Trump should have even less authority over the inner workings of the mail. Emphasis on "should."

Yes! Date and time, please!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My husband recently retired after 30 years as a USPS city letter carrier. He always had a special place in his heart for his "route pups."

Bannon detests Musk, but the two of them seem to have found at least one area of agreement.

I wish I could loan you my stripey dude, DeeDee for a week. He would make quick work of it! Mouser extraordinaire 🐾 His Siamese-y brudder, Joey, would observe stylishly in total support. ♥️

Because of course! Wow. Mr. Free Speech Absolutist will not stand for it.

Yes. The USPS is the favorite fed agency, year over year, (Pew Research). I understand this on a visceral level: my husband was a USPS city letter carrier for 30 years. The affection from his customers, most of whom were from tough urban neighborhoods, was very real. about.usps.com/newsroom/nat...

100% agreed ... unfortunately. 🎯

That's the ultimate "reset" button, for sure. Pretty difficult to attain, but lately I've dropped most of my expectations about my government ...

Yes -- a very under-discussed facet of risks to repro rights. The US Mail has historically been the form of communication with the most constitutional protections. Are we going to start ripping through mail, looking for abortion meds? If so, we're throwing away even more than our bodily autonomy.

No -- the Postal Board of Govs appoint new PMs General -- usually with the careful involvement of POTUS. I wouldn't put anything past the current occupant of 1600 PA Avenue, though. He may do an end run around all of it and let the lawsuits fly as they may. www.uspsoig.gov/focus-areas/...

Well, for starters, T will abide by few laws and even fewer norms. That's a given. What happens afterwards will be up to the courts. Full disclosure: I'm the wife of a recently retired USPS city carrier with 30 years of service. Nobody is more horrified, yet less surprised, by any of this ...

Nah, that was the scam they tried to pull against the USPS in the 2010s (see "pre-funding mandate" in the link). I doubt they'll put much energy into an elaborate bullshit ruse this time around ... brute force seems to be in style lately for corporate raiders gone wild. apwu.org/postal-servi...

He technically couldn't -- no president can fire a Postmaster General directly. But he could have put much more pressure on the Postal Board of Governors, who are the ones who get that job done. Instead, as usual, USPS issues always stay on the back burner. 😐

Yep! Postal service is one of the very few governmental functions specifically mentioned in our founding documents. Yet the self-congratulatory Constitution-thumping party clearly wants the USPS gone. They can't fathom a governmental organization that has the word "Service" in its name.

Yes -- but I have a feeling that'll be the least of it. The four USPS unions (city carriers, rural carriers, clerks, and sorting plant workers) are the USA's largest remaining unionized workforce, hands down. The GOP has intermittently tried to "put it through the woodchipper" since the early 2010s.

Thank you for your service in showing the MB system! MB is soooooo car-brained. Catchy tune!

At this point, it seems that T's doing an end run around most Congressional processes, too (other than rubber-stamping his bogus cabinet nominees). So that leaves us with ... an Executive Branch of One(?)

Your article doesn't accurately represent Dorsey's current connection to BlueSky. He was involved early on, but now? Not so much. www.barrons.com/articles/blu...

Shocking. But one of the biggest interests of any authoritarian is to erase history and pretend that every new day is "day one." Pulling the plug on one of the most popular Democratic presidents of all time seems as good a place as any to start, given their brand of "logic."

p.s. Here's a great piece by @carolecadwalla.bsky.social about the fact we're having a hideous coup and the New York Times is packing it in euphemisms and pairing it with muffin recipes. broligarchy.substack.com/p/us-coup-ga...

I will look for the Arendt piece! Coming at it from my usual practical angle ... humanity has just been through a development as big as the printing press. It may take quite awhile for us to learn how to wield internet connectivity as a tool, rather than being mostly wrapped around the axle.

Guess Sen. McCormick only understands the "consent" part of the Senate's historic "advise and consent" role(?) The role of Congress seems to be more sidelined by the day by this administration -- and McCormick's passive POV is only making it worse. 🫤

This! 100% true. I can't recall where I first read this saying, but here's a saying which will stick with me re: A.I.: "If nobody could be bothered to write it, why should I bother to read it?"
