Oh, one last thing I forgot to mention, I was on the brink of an awful cold when I recorded this episode, so my voice also sounds a bit scratchier than it usually does – apologies for that as well!

We chat about the preparations, the types of events held and I discuss the possible reasons as to why Robert held such a grand event for his Queen. Give it a listen!

I might give this a try thank you! The problem is I’ve got a very harsh (bordering on brutal) inner critic which has dogged me since adolescence and it’s very difficult to tell it to give it a rest, for once, even when it’s something that no one else will read 😭

She was a PERFECT young Elizabeth! So impressed by her and I’m cheering her on for her future projects!

Hello! If there’s still space I would love to be added if I possibly fit the bill - I’m an MA graduate and I run a website focused on Elizabethan history where I post my independent research, and am currently working on a historical fiction novel ☺️

Would it be worth reaching out to members of the project team individually maybe? Dr Ian W. Archer appears to have an up to date staff contact page at Oxford’s faculty of history, for example.

Check out my latest blog post to see a small example of how Elizabeth prepared to be Queen and how she was not quite the guileless, doe-eyed damsel that the famous 1998 movie bearing her name portrayed her as. exploringelizabethanhistory.com/2024/11/17/o...

Just over 20 miles away in her childhood home of Hatfield House, her half-sister Elizabeth prepared for what had now long been considered a foregone conclusion: her accession as Queen of England.
