I agree with Greta Thunberg. We “need to act like our house is on fire. Because it is.”

So very disappointed that the Ontario conservatives could not find one candidate willing to join our debate on transit. We would have loved to hear them explain their Metrolinx proposal. And I'm shocked that people vote for a party that does not do interviews or debates.

Tomorrow's the day! Join us for our #ThirdThursdays Climate Drinks at #CivicTavern (213 12th Ave SW). Last month's was a banger! Supported by @xhalebrewco.bsky.social #yyc #Climate

Toronto to Montreal to Quebec City at 300km / hour. I look forward to planning a trip by high speed rail in Canada.

A divided vote means a Conservative win. Let’s change that! 🗳️ Progressives split votes while Conservatives stay united—winning ridings where most oppose them. Vote strategically to stop Ford! ✅ Find the strongest progressive in your riding at VoteWell.ca and help defeat the Conservatives. #ONpoli

@gaspforchange.bsky.social Agreed! Vote Ford Conservatives out. Bring back the Ontario Science Centre and the good work being done there.

We have been using geothermal on a small scale since 1997. We used to get cold winters in NE Greater Toronto Area and it kept us warm. It still does but it has been many years since we saw -37.

Today in Volts: At a live event in Houston, I caught up with @timlatimer.bsky.social, CEO of Fervo Energy, about the latest news from the world of enhanced geothermal power. Costs are coming down, a giant power plant is being built in Utah, contracts are being signed, & the future is bright!

We got a Czar!

Canadians need to see the Toronto Star opinion page from Friday. Chrystia Freeland writes well and has a sensible message but @theomoudakis.bsky.social cartoon says it all.

Billboard on Gerrard St E, Toronto. Cenovus says “Without a strong oil and gas industry we’d all get less for our dollar” I know there are alternate sustainable jobs. I am worried for my health and the health of my children and grandchildren if we don’t phase out oil and gas.

I am doing the Christmas bird count. Report the highest total of one species that you count at once. The snow on the tree makes it hard. 6 blue jays here, a cardinal and a hairy wood pecker.

One has solar panels. Some have chimneys for Santa. None have gas furnaces.

A neighbourhood with good taste. They all have heat pumps

Very exciting to join the Zoom last evening with Hon. Min. Guilbeault. My Question was whether there will be legislation to prevent new gas lines that we will all pay to remove? The answer was hopeful. Yes, Net Zero Federal building code is coming but Provinces are free to follow or not.

I heard Alienor Rougeot on CBC. Topic is 4 paid workdays in Spain if work is missed because of climate crisis. So many commuters lost their lives in the floods. She mentioned workplaces here should prepare for heat days and that installing heat pumps is an efficient way to keep buildings cool.
