At first I was disappointed with Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD's hard difficulty, but now that I'm up to the pyramid it's really gotten good. I enjoy the treasure troves they scattered around the world map to encourage you to explore the wilderness instead of walking in a circle around town to level grind.

Spellbound is a cute little allegory with a great score. I appreciated some of the details about what it's like to be a child who has to display more maturity than their parents. Bonus points for being about a royal heir and actually involving the pressures and expectations of executive power.

Remember when they localized this grim show about the psychological impact of war on child soldiers and tried to make it acceptable for ten year olds? As though watching Heeroy Yuy attempt suicide would be less traumatizing if he never said the word "die"? Gooood times.

I don't see the point in not believing in things you can taste like fear and cinnamon youtu.be/AttQPGybmo4?...

This is one of my favorite pieces of kitschy pop ephemera, maybe the campiest show it's possible to make. Use clips from it in your next stage show or work presentation! youtu.be/Gbn-zwNB7r4?...

Female character that you love I keep intending to build a multiclass Bard/Druid based on Kipo Oak.

Hearthstone core set update has me excited for the future, given that Leroy, Deckhand, Kill Command are all leaving. Seems like every new dev team has to learn a hard lesson about Charge. Also with MC Tech, Reska, Yogg, Reno, etc etc etc rotating we might actually be able to stick a board again.

Love this song so much. I arranged it into a lullaby and sing it to my kids at night. youtu.be/D13zs5z3wnQ?...

Happy Valentine's Day everybody! <3 youtu.be/1qdAHiwQfQQ?...

What I love about this song is how it showcases Neil's ability to build a boppin' jam out of noises most people would not even call music. Something about it scratches a strange itch in my brain just right. youtu.be/pjeF8aiQgLU?...

Still see folks holding out hope that, after Trump's spite-based economic policies inevitably fail, it will make his supporters reconsider. Sorry, but no. They'll blame feminists, or communists, or Jews for the failure of their policies and crack down ever harder on their victims. That's fascism.

Playing through the whole Mother series in order (okay, I didn't actually finish the first one) has got me thinking about this amazing version of the series theme song again. Guaranteed to brighten your day: youtu.be/IP8JgWd6TW0?...

As a huge nerd who didn't use any THC until her late twenties, I had to come up with the pneumonic "Indica makes you indolent, sativa makes you sprightly" to keep them straight. I couldn't come up with anything better, so I guess I'll be silently saying that in my head for the rest of my life.

I got this game for my birthday and I honestly just thought I was going to enjoy the cute aesthetics for an hour or two and lose interest. But WOW is it good. The writing is a little indulgent sometimes, but other than that it's great on every level. store.steampowered.com/app/2124380/...

Oh my God this remix goes even harder than the original. The improved instrumentation really shows off how solid the underlying composition is. youtu.be/_cSjpiQB6RA?...

I am completely obsessed with this arpeggiation. If you'll excuse me, I have to learn this melody by ear. youtu.be/BGDtuYVBYtk?...

The Oprah episodes on BTB were really long and sad and morally complex. So it's nice that our followup episodes about Venusian Space Magic feature Robert giggling at poop jokes like a delighted child for a solid hour. It's a nice mood contrast.

Disaster strikes on the third day of the investor conference as one of them finally realizes that I've been saying my goal is to "get bred" all weekend.

Showed my eldest son Star Fox 64 and he's been playing it on the NSO service. And he's just running around the house quoting the hammy voice acting all day, just like I did at his age. Funny how many of the mission briefings are just Pepper saying "There's bad guys here!" and Fox replying, "Yup."

I often start 8-bit or 16-but RPGs without finishing them, but you'd better believe I finished Earthbound. The endgame is less frustrating than in most of its contemporaries, and the final boss fight is actually the best part of the game. There's a reason Undertale took so much from it.

I keep getting stuck in Baldur's Gate 3. Maybe I shouldn't have picked Bard for my first character. I'm thinking about just turning the difficulty down so I can talk to the friend who gifted it to me about the story, but my pride as a DM of many decades is getting in the way.

I foolishly decided to grind for the Sword of Kings in Earthbound. I've been at it for hours. Ness is like level 75. At this point the only reason I keep going is the sunk cost fallacy.

It's been a long day, so thank Christ there's a new episode of Bigfeets waiting at the end of it. Every other Monday life temporarily becomes worth living again. (I'm kidding, but I'm also absolutely not kidding.)

Replaying Earthbound for the first time since college. Looking at it from an adult perspective, I'm constantly whipsawing between, "What an insightful commentary on both American culture and RPG conventions," and "Hahahaha what the fuck"

The Pokécharms Trainer Card Maker is a lot of fun!

Without downloading any new pics/vids, where are you mentally?

Someone made an adorable animated music video for one of the most underrated Lemon Demon deep cuts. I was having a hard day today, but this made me smile. youtu.be/QWBJD9Z0oS4?...

Our weatherbeaten old PS4 finally gasped its last today, and I'm realizing that I still have no interest in a PS5. This ends almost 30 years of continuous Playstation ownership on my part, dating back to the original PSX in 1996. Feeling a bit melancholy about it.
