GLEE!!!! I’ll just keep grinning like a maniac, because this is perfect for an Eberron Romantasy.

Look, I know I’m old alright?

So many of today's problems could have been avoided if we made ethics classes mandatory for all tech degrees & didn't completely devalue the humanities Some things are, or at least should be, more important than money

Anyone got good Switch/Xbox Dating Sim recommendations for someone who doesn’t really play them? Bonus points if has the same vibes as Monster Prom or Slay the Princess cause those are the two I HAVE played and loved both.

This whole thread. Please please read it.

A bunch of people have sent me this. I just want everybody to know this is NOT my fault. (This time.)

i know i'm harping on alt-text but the resistance to it legit doesn't make sense to me. beyond the hey-for-accessibility-reasons that we should do it, from a selfish perspective i truly don't get why someone would choose to limit their own reach (esp bc @alt-text.bsky.social can do it for you!)

Why do I only log into BlueSky when I want to play Eberron with TSL? This is an actual problem.

Brain has gotten a desire to write some Eberron smut, so I think it’s time to bust out Thirsty Sword Lesbians again.

I can’t say I’m a fan of how much my kid listens to Peppa Pig. Not because it’s bad, but solely I can only listen to it so many times I one week and it’s all the kid wants. That said, I do think writers should take some lessons about story structure and engagement from it.

'Alpha males' in public: Stop shoving your gay propaganda down my throat!!! 😤 'Alpha males' in my DM's: please shove your gay propaganda down my throat!! 🥺

I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30. Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years. That was 27 years ago. Honour those we lost. Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV. Make HIV stigma history. #WorldAIDSDay

Everyone says that being a writer reading as much as possible, and they’re 100% right about that. But I am also increasingly convinced that you don’t just need to read the genre you’re writing, you also need to read *memoirs.* Not the celebrity autobiographies, but the stories of regular people.

You know you have author brain when you start doing structural analysis of Peppa Pig episodes reflexively…

Writing hills I will die on: three act and four act structure are fundamentally the same thing, but the later is better. It emphasizes the structural importance of the turning point. And all four acts have the same foundation: plot, plan, pinch point.

Just discovered James Scott Bell. Yes. That. Write from the middle. The turning point is 100% the most structurally important moment in a story.

Hi #HorrorWritersChat! My pen name is Elliot Hunter. Haven’t had much movement on my outlines lately, but I am working towards getting some dark romance that is also genuine horror out into the universe. Mostly lurking because of it, but you all are an inspiration to keep going!

This is me, not realizing people were selling novels on itch, finding out and being very glad

Difficult pills to swallow

Optimist: The cup is half full Pessimist: The cup is half empty Romance author: The cup was blistering hot as it touched my lips, and I don’t mean it was boiling

Writing full time almost assuredly would never come close to the income the day job provides. Yet some days saying fuck you I quit still feels like the better option. 😞

Read dangerously. Here are some suggestions. #amreading #fuckfascism

Best "Neo-Victorian" novels to teach: go! I'm teaching a grad class ("Re-Forming Victorian Lit") next semester. I want to end with a 21st-C novel that's explicitly taking up/engaging with Victorian forms. Ideally not centered solely on white British characters. Course description in thread.
