It evokes that feeling of "oh no, poor baby" and for some reason that's tied to laughter.

Very, very funny stuff.

Lotta people under Nazi occupation did extremely brave and heroic things. Others lay in bed in hospitals while their nursing staff did the best they could to protect them from death. "Oh, what did you do to fight the occupation?" "I survived." It's really tiring and saddening, but it's a reality.

If the US keeps insisting that slaughter and death are a necessity, then it cannot be surprised when its citizens respond by adopting the same disregard for life. We don't have to condone killings on our soil to point out how they're inevitable until the slaughter abroad ends.

This is what's so deeply frightening. People have been making it clear to our government that we do not want slaughter in Gaza, do not want our bombs killing Palestinian children. They've forced us to watch a genocide unfold live, and being told "accept the slaughter" is breeding violence at home.

...we have girls who are slower and boys who are quicker. We also have nurture vs nature, and in the end, sex is a spectrum of traits with much variance, and averages aren't a good metric for how to treat INDIVIDUAL people. Individual people and not averages, and we all have unique identity.

It's worth noting, too, that while sexual dimorphism is observed in the brain is real, it's slight and based on averaging out and entire population. Baby girls, on average, start speaking a month sooner than baby boys, on average. A month. That's not much difference, and it also means...

Think what denying transition or forced detransition mean. It is asserting control over another's self and body. It's visceral evidence you do not belong to yourself, that parts of you are entirely at someone's mercy and caprice.

Right. There is scientific evidence that demonstrates trans people were "born different" or are different, but it shouldn't matter. It shouldn't matter why you're doing HRT if it helps you feel fulfilled. You deserve an informed consent approach to have your best life, no matter your gender or sex.

We don't have discourse about an androsexual transwoman who went from blockers to estrogen, got her surgeries at 18, and marries a straight man, even though she can be stealth. She has it easier than many, but she doesn't have privilege, because passing isn't privilege, it's survival.

Of course they are, they flipped a lid over "shrimp on a treadmill", they don't care about the science that ensures the longevity of any of our major food supplies. They don't care what's in the gulf so long as it's "The Gulf of America".

Eventually, my deep, seething hatred for people who can't just be cruel, but like murdering animals, too, will surge back with a vengeance, but right now, I'm not okay.

In many ways, it's not their fault, because media literacy is like any other literacy, learned over the course of time and experience, and with cuts to education and a heavy dose of hegemonic propaganda, that's hard to do unassisted.
At the same time, witnessing that vulnerability makes me despair.

The other aspect is that Target's not a person, and the things are keep looking like satire but are true are more along the lines of "this politician/business leader has said/done X" where a powerful person feels emboldened to break the taboos against violence, bigotry or corruption.

In some aspects? Absolutely, though we've still got social norms. The tee shirt is clockable as satire, or was to me, because while the straights do non-monag, they refuse to acknowledge it because it's verboten, like LGBTQ+ folks, so Target wouldn't sell something so blatant without heavy innuendo.

Y'all, you're kinda scaring me that you can't clock that:
1. It's obvious satire
2. Screenie literally says "The Onion"
Please, I beg you, ;emme laugh at the joke without fearing for your sense of reality.

It's an onion article, it's satire. Target didn't actually do this, but this is a silly exaggeration poking fun at the way they caved and shrunk the pride merch section after bigoted backlash.

Just in just, FYI, that's an Onion article, posted by the Onion guy. It's a satirical joke made at Target's expense.

Yeah, I have thoughts! Happy to share, words limited, though, it's probably easiest if I screenshot a continuation of rambling about cephalopod intelligence at a friend in DMs yesterday and how their lack of generational bonds and 1-2 year lifespan is highly unusual for creatures so clever.

Yep. They still have silly little guy energy, but even a silly little guy would get cranky if it dealt with constant growing pains and hunger of going from planktonic to jumbo size in just a year while everyone tries to eat it.

It's really not a double standard once you realize why they're doing it. They don't actually care about health, they just hate fat people and trans people, so whatever combination of medication gets us the most skinny, un-transitioned people is, in their mind, the correct one. Full consistent.

The one thing that is very entertaining is that while she was living as a man, it was not convincing whatsoever to anybody, to the point they started betting on the London Stock Exchange that she was a secret woman. "We can always tell".

Yeah, like, there have always been boring trans people, too, but we remember *her* because holy shit, she had quite a life.

I like the transgender cuttlefish, the males ones that perform female courting patterns on their bodies in the lekks. They're like... maybe the only time I feel like it's accurate to say an animal is transGENDER, because nothing cross-sex is happening, they're doing a social performance.
