As a foreigner, one of the things I really appreciated about the US was that you had your top notch people working for the government. PhDs, really highly specialized, talented people, the best of the best. I don't know how you go back to that once you break it.

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

The nominee to be the new Chairman of the Joints Chief of Staff has a public reading list which appears to be full of basically your average business grindset guy type reads, including a lot of stoicism and leadership blogs and books.

This is climate arson, yes, but also the entire value proposition of Tesla, the reason for its insane stock price, is that it would end up the Amazon of electric cars: the only real game in town. Killing off non-Tesla electric car infrastructure is a gift to Musk.

The name’s QINLIANFF. ACCYOD QINLIANFF, British suit, British spy suit two piece, 100% MI6 her majesty’s secret service MACHINE WASHABLE, separates, men’s suit tailor fit two piece classic wedding business sui

Elon Musk doesn’t want you to see these clips of constituent power in action

The single clearest through-line of Trump II is it's a great time to defraud the government, and a terrible time to try and actual deliver on government services. Oligarchs are waging class war from the top down and they're doing it against all the civil servants that exist to hold them back.

As someone who lives in a city with MASSIVE traffic issues and zero reliable public transportation (and barely any fast lines), I'll say Alina Habba has zero clue how good New Yorkers have it.

just when he started growing something resembling a spine

Oh hell yes, Canada. Though I thought Americano was already derogatory because American soldiers serving in Italy during World War II wanted their espresso watered down.

Incredible stuff in here: They ID'ed him, in part, by going to court hearings and watching him post

This is it - the enabling law of this regime. Rubicon has been crossed.

Really don’t know what to tell people as someone who has written and spoken about the far right and authoritarianism and is in the academic side of this that we crossed the rubicon tonight when Trump declared he and the AG are the sole arbitrators of law. This is it. It’s here there is no going back

They are straight up grifting in front of everyone.

Luego: rug pull. www.lanacion.com.ar/economia/IA/...

Hochul reading the room

History doesn't repeat itself but it tends to rhyme.

On a whim, I revisited earlier drafts of George Washington's Farewell Address and found six excised lines that hit hard. In @slate.bsky.social, I wrote about why we should revisit them today. slate.com/news-and-pol...

The waste of hundreds of thousands of person-years of expertise and dedicated service.

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

Those who uphold the rule of law save their country.

Eff yes. Go Cap.

Honestly, at this rate, it is the best bet for the EU to assume the US won't come to their aid on Ukraine or anything else. Even if things change again in four years, the US has proven itself to be an unreliable partner. Europe must take matters in its own hands to protect 80 years of democracy.

Measles requires 95% vaccination rates for herd immunity. It has a 16.2% case fatality rate for unvaccinated children under 5 years and 24% for children under 9 months (who are unable to be vaccinated). 30% of the survivors experience severe complications like blindness, deafness, or encephalitis.

Literally a Napoleon quote about how ending democracy was legitimate
