If a defendant’s plea is “equivocal” - i.e. if they plead guilty but tell the court “I didn’t actually do this”, the court should not agree to sentence.
Now again, it is far from unheard of for magistrates’ courts to make errors.
But it’s another oddity in this story.

11/ Finally, & of more general note, the EAT held there was protection for disclosures made to employers before the commencement of the employment relationship. That was clear from the purposive approach applied to circumstances such as detriments by current employer for disclosures to a former one.
