Very pleased to have been included in this wonderful (and beautifully produced - check them purple endpapers and turquoise tapes!) book, edited by Stephanie Loveless at Rennesslauer Institute and the Center for Deep Listening. #paulineoliveros #deeplistening

Buy as many of these wonderful books as you can. Every one is life-altering.

Hello folx! I'm wanting to expand my 'database' / widening my awareness of good, enquiring, critical folx for recommending to other artists. Who would you want / trust to write about your practice? Who would be your dream practice-interrogator / critical-friend? Suggestions via DM, please.

this is a dril tweet

I suspect this is a HUGELY underestimated factor in radicalization. If you look at, say, QAnon boards, it’s not really folks looking for scapegoats for their dire material circumstances. It’s middle-class people with boring lives who want to imagine they’re in The Parallax View.

One of my best friends is from a sleepy, wealthy small town in the south-west of Germany. He said, so many of my parents’ neighbours are rich and bored, with little to complain about, and they’ve radicalised themselves at dinner parties and online. In their aimlessness, they’ve bonded over hate.

Woah, quite a night! Thanks to everyone who turned out! Bit tipsy. Home now, and to bed with a nip of Penderyn single malt and a Twin Peaks binge. (Black Lodge = hard edge abstraction).

🧵. My #expandedpainting 'peach brown cream pink (pink pink pink)' is showing as part of A BELL IS A CUP, contemporary painting from Europe & the UK, opening at BLOC Projects #Sheffield this Tuesday, 18 Feb, open 12-6 daily. The not so 'Private View' (everyone welcome) is on Thursday 20th, 5-8pm...

A joy to publish @imogenreid.bsky.social & to work w/ coeditors Tom & Judit. Gordian was active from 2013-21 & we still have stock on our website. The ethos of Gordian informed @intergraphiabooks.bsky.social a publishing project I co-edit w with @rachelartsmith.bsky.social. Grassroots 4eva 💪🏼.

Good morning to this man, and this man only #bbcqt

Sylvia Rivera (1951–2002) was Marsha P. Johnson’s best friend and a fellow badass pioneer in the fight LGBTQIA+ rights. In her own words, “If it wasn’t for the drag queen, there would be no gay liberation movement. We’re the front-liners.”

For a while now, I've ve been using Instagram as a studio diary and as an out-of-the-archive journal. I'm going to start doing that here, too. Today's out-of-the-archive is a shot of a solo exhibition of 'projection paintings' at the Leeds Met Gallery in 2003.

A triangulation of studio visits with Gary Simmonds and @stuburkeart.bsky.social ...

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models. In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013.

Highlight of 2024-25 was/is having my strange scrunchy 'painting' Sage (2023) hung as part of Colour, Line, Form at Graves Gallery. Installation shot shows it hung between an ace Bridget Riley quartet & a couple of delicious 1967 Fred Bazler paintings, with a sublime Naum Gabo sculpture to the fore.

Intergraphia OPEN CALL! Important: This is thread of TEN posts. Please read all of them before considering a submission.

This book is bloody terrifying. (Big recommend).

Had a shit day? One in which you realise you are seen as a second-rate object of contempt & ridicule with a future of humuliation & penury is laid out before you? I recommend a RinQuinQuintini. Vodka Martini with a slug of RinQuinQuin, the total fucking queen of dry peach vermouth aperitifs.

Not sure what 'finally changing' means. Ffs, yes, if you have an accent it's really fucking important that they aren't, in terms of cultural/ societal representation treated as though they are not A THING. Just exhausted by the thought that most people don't get this.

Oh, and here's the redcurrant infused white rum...

I finally cracked the making a French Martini, froth & all.... (we haven't quite been able to shake off doing New Year, yet). 🩷🍸🩷

Studio. 3.1.2024. Earths. Angles. No such thing as a 'natural form', mate.

Shout out to David Bakan for coining the term 'methodolatry' in 1969, a term to denote the "mindless use of methods & the sacrifice of substantive questions to methodological expediency."

Swag.

Following a spring clean at Longbarrow HQ, I've found a number of hardbacks (ex-bookshop, damaged in transit, etc) that are perfectly readable, but not saleable. If you're in Sheffield (postcodes S1-S12 only), and you'd like a free book, message your postal address and I'll deliver it on Saturday.

We've got a magnum of Amarone...
