Did you get to mingle with the gourd society people?

The energy piece is harder between the news and work stress-- I have no magic formula there at the moment besides reminding myself that once I get started I'll get into a groove. That has been mostly true!

In this case, I was really just trying to iterate on the things that have been most exciting to me recently. In this case: the random colors, the stars, and the "paper quilt" idea (I want to assemble these into one piece at the end of the week!)

This is a lovely design!

Congrats!

As a camera person who has fallen victim to "gear acquisition syndrome" in the past, "starter pen" both intrigues and scares me! 😅

Thank you! It’s a fun constraint for me 😁

I love this interpretation of the prompt!
comment in response to post
It's okay because I have not managed a single prompt yet despite remembering and promoting it 😅

I can't do it either and I love the Apple Pencil for sketching, too. I also have a hard time with track pads for my design work. It's hard to transition away from the mouse I learned with!

Of course! One thing I like about Bluesky is that it feels easier to share some of my favorite art making tools/references/resources.

I love what’s happening with color in this piece!

YouTuber Hank Green shared that he found Bluesky users were more likely to click through links to YouTube videos/articles— presumably because Bluesky does not algorithmically deprioritize offsite links like IG/X appear to. So if you’re concerned about engagement it might not be an issue!

I'm bummed the giant lightbulb didn't make the final sketch-- I'm riveted by it!

Love this particular set of colors!

That being said, I picked this book up on a whim from the library and was surprised by, but absolutely loved the sometimes gossipy tone and the anecdotes that emphasize just how peculiar some of the artists were. I'd like to share some of my favorite bits later this week!

Unrelated, but I almost didn't recognize you without your embroidered portrait profile pic from Instagram!

I've had a similar issue-- last year I took to using rice paper meant for calligraphy and much to my dismay it's not holding up well in my collage work. I just love the way it absorbs acrylics for monotypes so I'm not giving up just yet!

I had just finished getting an unexpected rabies vaccine in the ER last summer-- before I could even get dressed someone was rolling a machine with a credit card reader into the room. It was particularly dystopian that the payment couldn't wait until I was dressed and ready to leave.

I still have my FB account but stopped using it in 2018. I keep the account for occasional Marketplace use. It's been great for my mental health and hasn't impacted my friendships. But I also never tried to sell my art through FB so I can't speak to that side of things!

I want to continue to make little graphical representations like this for the less inherently art-related weekly challenges/themes I take on-- I suspect my hand lettering will improve over time if I keep it up! 😁

I'm glad @annalarssonstudio.bsky.social replied to your post because I found another higher ed creative!

Hey! It's a starter pack that I feel like I actually qualify for! I would love to be added.

Beautiful colors!

Seems like a crummy growth strategy to get a big enough following to take on (likely illegal) ads. Many people just automatically follow back anyone following them and don't notice what you're describing, which I can't see as anything but shady.

I saw the hashtag a few times and didn't realize it was a themed thing! I'll keep an eye out on the theme for the future :)

It does seem like most social platforms have trained people out of interacting and having conversations. I was cleaning up old Instagram posts and noticed that people used to leave real comments all the time! Even complete strangers.
