My blind friend was a mechanic but can't even get volunteer manual work. Even if employers are mandated/supported to make work accessible, PIP will be needed to enable him to travel etc.

You can object, of course. I think it's also ok to personally decide how to weigh up the arguments, pragmatically and emotionally. Different conclusions result, clearly.

In those examples, are transwomen the biggest issue and barrier to your progress/wellbeing? My impression is, no. They are not.

Like the Repair Shop, where they intone all the possible ways things might go wrong, and then it all goes quite straightforwardly fine. It's psychologically very sustaining.

Also, the forum itself has ticket experts who will do a great job of advising - and quick responses too

tickets.railforums.co.uk i ditched trainline for that and many other reasons. This one seems to be a much sounder job

It's been lovely thanks - I could have waved at you on your marathon run I think!

That sounded sumptuous.

Ah, you're in receipt of an advance copy... I'm hanging on for my pre order

Yep. And when I didn't get equal pay, *people* repeatedly decided to do that, and *people* lied about it when I asked. Companies don't have morals. People do, or it seems more often, don't.

I managed to dodge the showers. It was all very peaceful - timing is key I'm sure

Ratings 🙃 I got a -100 on our customer service app. I'm literally wearing a tshirt that says trainee barista. It's a shame because it dragged the average down and costs the rest of the team potential extra cash per minimum wage hour 😕 Wish they'd just said something. Thnx 4 listening.

I'm a film extra and had this exact problem with a now bust agent - run as a pyramid scheme type operation in the end, probably illegally trading while insolvent etc etc. Directors off onto pastures similar. They have no shame.

Life A Users Manual is my favourite book. V grateful to have had a French friend to recommend it to me.

Just awful, so sorry. I love dogs but I won't have one for this exact reason - owners who think they know better. Latest of multiples - my 81 yo dad got yelled at by a woman with 5 off lead dogs who attacked his on lead one on a canal path.

Happened to me at midnight in Bucharest airport in the 2000s. I felt lucky to get away with being scalped 130 euros for a 15 minute ride.

It's so hard and tiring, wishing you all well. Contented Dementia by Oliver James was a helpful read for me.

Stopped using trainline, not least because they sold me tickets invalid for the journey booked. Using RailForumUK instead, much better info. Don't know about their profit model tbh.

I missed the post, but I imagine it was a bit sweary, professionally v much in your wheelhouse, so fair play. Did it get a "shorter" or "funnier" note from Armando I?

I think Maintenance Phase podcast does a good job explaining the actual numbers involved, and the nuances and evidence generally. "Rapid onset" for instance, is v dependent on if you ask parents, rather than the kid etc etc.

My visually impaired friend recently had a 1.5 hour detour when avanti passenger assistance failed to get him off train at his stop. Letter sent and link shared 🙏

Exactly this. My partner works for parish council and had to write down in the log when a resident gave him a courgette from his allotment. And the rules for me as customs manager when HMRC came to audit were so strict - minimal, on site sandwich lunch, absolutely no dining out or fancy stuff

My telescopic brolly of 20+ years fell apart in my hands, just after a rain shower stopped. I was near a memorial statue with a nice sea view, so I committed Old Stripey to the bin nearby.

And yet football clubs continued to give him work. So much for cancellation eh.

Hate that ad. So dehumanising. Yes, relatives find it hard to adjust, but adjust you must. Contented Dementia by Oliver James was the most useful resource I found, pragmatic and humane.
