Measured, eloquent, devastating.

Always a beautiful thing to see the Berkshire Eagle singled out for doing what newspapers should do best. Rock on, Berkshires.

Andry José Hernández Romero, I remember you, even if I do not know how to articulate my horror, rage, & sorrow at your treatment by my government. No one has heard from you in 46 days. As vigil, I’m posting a photo of you every day until you are returned from El Salvador.

The US government doesn't subsidize university research. Rather, universities subsidize government research. I've seen recent threads deceiving the first half of this, but nothing recent describing the extent to which universities are doing the subsidizing.

This is happening and it's beautiful. Thank you Senator Booker and Representative Jeffries.

I'll be launching a new culture podcast this summer. Music. Literature. Film. Visual art. (Wordplay!) And all the rest. I'll look at where the arts currently stand and where they might be going. Possible title: Fate of the Arts.

Finally got to Lucy Alford on my stack of "must reads" (I know...I know...shoulda gotten there sooner), and it's another of those Books I Have Been Waiting For...right up there with my first read of Poetry and the Fate of the Senses, or The Sighted Singer, or Post-Petrarchism. That kind of great.

If you are an artist or someone who had an NEH grant rescinded and are open to being interviewed about this for ARTnews, I can be reached on Signal at karenkho.45

Once again, it’s critical to say here that Republicans in Congress endorse this with their silence

BREAKING: 36k people showed up in LA for Bernie and AOC’s rally. In the off year. Americans are pissed — and anyone ignoring that is making a big mistake.

Ahhh...truly one of the greats. So glad to stumble upon this post.

Exactly. Stand up, universities.

Good for the UC Academic Council. And good for Rutgers Senate a couple of weeks ago. University leaders: How clear does it have to get that heads-in-the-sand just makes it easier for the predator to pick us off? It's beyond time for some collective spine. If we go down, do it fighting, and together.

UCLA standing up to #KillTheCuts! Thousands of research, healthcare, & education workers across the country are out on campuses & in the streets today to demand that our elected officials #KillTheCuts to lifesaving research.

I love this

Amid all that's happening, I'm excited to celebrate Emergency in Transit: Witnessing Migration in the Colonial Present at a hybrid author-meets-critics launch Fri, April 11, 10:00 Pacific (19:00 CET). I'll be joined by Kemi Balogun, Angelica Pesarini, Julie Weise, Nathalie Hester... & perhaps you!

Pretty beautiful day to be out in the sunshine in Portland, Oregon! People were saying 30,000 strong. We think it might be more!

Timely.
