Science, culture, gender (with a queer, transfeminist lens), politics (with a leftist lens), criticism of tech, current events... Other than sports there's very little I'm not interested in!

Host 2, I don't think you're a very good journalist!!!

It's exhausting. I promise, unless you are a grade S comedian, I'm not going to be interested in your unscripted banter with your co-host.

(Also there are Allegations against James Marsters, including that that he started grooming his second wife when she was in high school and he was in his forties.)

You KNOW that if after working for 20 hours straight she'd been like 'hey, that's enough, the crew is tired, let us go home', they would have called a diva and (GASP) difficult.

Huh! Nice!

Well, apparently they cast a black man to play him, so I'm sure the whole thing won't come across as gross and insensitive

Won't anyone think of the poor Ku Klux Klan member!

I'm not saying that the culture that bred that sentiment is why we are where we are right now, but in fact, yes, I am saying that.

Grown-ass people who still think he was just misunderstood and a poor, poor victim. Amazing.

(If you're going to defend Snape or 'Well actually' me about Harry Potter, consider doing literally anything else with your time. Like, for example, donating to a UK-based trans rights charity.)

LITERALLY-A-CHILD ME: Hey Snape is kind of a bully :( He's an adult picking on children! MODERN-DAY-ADULTS: Well, first of all, this unrepentant former member of a genocidal fascist organization was just really sad that the girl he hate-crimed wouldn't fuck him, so jot that down

TEENAGE ME: The writers of House, MD have repeatedly stated that Dr House is their personal power fantasy, so isn't it possible that he, not Cameron, is the real self-insert? FANDOM: Nah she's a Mary Sue

The first time I heard about Jared Leto being a predator was on LIVEJOURNAL, so that should tell you all you need to know about how long he's been doing this for.

On a broad, historical level, one of humanity's worst habits that we can't seem to shake is the mentality that fear of authority means respect for authority, a mindset abusive people have exploited to become politically powerful for centuries.

Hell, take Trump, for example. Women have been making rape and sexual harassment accusations about him for years. Black communities have been talking about the racist discrimination in his housing since the SEVENTIES. But society didn't give a shit, because women & black people are expendable.

The people most likely to experience interpersonal abuse are part of marginalised communities, and society as a whole does NOT want to listen to them. If it did, it'd realise how much we can teach it about abuse dynamics
comment in response to post
Very true. Some people even get mad if you point out the obvious parallels between their oppression and a different group's. Great way to kill solidarity.
comment in response to post
I've noticed that the diff types of abuse experiences don't want to listen & learn from each other, either. Everyone wants to believe that their own abuse is so distinct that no one outside that community could possibly understand or relate. But we'd be so much stronger if we connected parallels.

I have a strict "no selfies that could be used to identify me" policy for this account but fuck I look scorching hot today. Like if I saw myself in the subway I'd have a crisis about being too chicken to hit on myself. It'd ruin my fucking day, that's how hot I look.

Yup. Abusers are the same everywhere

Yup! And yet some people still think that if only the Gazans grovelled and begged enough, Netanyahu would stop murdering them.
comment in response to post
Yup. Back in school, those people would tell me not to take it personally or to try to befriend the bullies. Now they talk of negotiating and compromising with genocidal murderers. These people are so spineless it's a wonder they can stand straight.

Most people are unprepared to deal with someone whose main motivations are to humiliate and destroy them. Which is unfortunate, because there are a lot of people like that!

If Zelenskyy gave in to Putin's demands tomorrow, by Monday, Putin would already have invaded Poland. If the last Palestinian were murdered, Netanyahu would just continue nuking neighbouring countries until they fell, too.

I spent years trying to find out what abusers wanted from me. What combination of words and actions would make them stop. But what these people want from you is annihilation. No amount of fawning will convince them to leave you alone, because no amount of subservience will ever satisfy them.
