Same shape as regular pilot steel nibs. Flex nibs have a different shape. I mean, if you want to FLEX it, you can try?

Can't flex the nibs on this, though 😅

I think you should take their suggestion in order to get a feel for it. They're less expensive than like, some entry level flex (Bluedew or FPR are usually the ones I've seen recommended, but there's also vintage models) fountain pens but I don't know USD prices. They're not for me, personally.

for steel dip pens, they can do fountain pen ink AND others (walnut inks? iirc)
glass nib dip pens are okay with fountain pen ink though? and I've used them (I have 3) and used them to help with swatching or writing in a color that's not in my current pen rotation.

Can work with any fountain pen ink, since all you have to do is dip, write, then dip in water and clean with a cloth or paper towel. But if you're looking to "flex", I wouldn't use glass dip pens.

I love mine! I still have the N8 that I used with its original fine nib then switched with a Jinhao fude one. Secondhand pen, but writes just fine! Same goes with my N23 Year of the Rabbit. Good weight and good nib 👍🏻

Oh, I have seen that too. Unfortunately not my favorite colors 😅 I prefer blue with silver/chrome trims or entirely clear demonstrators 😅

I'm actually a firm anti-Amazon person 😅 I do wish the N8 came with more colors because I do have one, but it's in white. The N7 is sadly a piston filler (I stopped using piston fillers after selling my TWSBIs). I don't think I've ever seen that other model 🤔

note-taking: kokuyo (specifically the soft ring ones), some cream dotted notebooks from daiso (the cover looks like the ones apica have), jibun techo (had one from 2019)
journaling: hobonichi (2023 & below), take a note (taiwanese brand)
both: hobonichi plain, traveler's, wearingeul, life noble

I have that same Hongdian! Just an extra fine nib though, I haven't had luck finding a long blade nib

it's a lot better from what i hear, but yeah, my issue with it is that it's more expensive than a kakuno (at least in philippine pesos [500-600 PHP]). otherwise, i just use the cartridges or use majohn's converter for their a1 (they look like the pilot capless/decimo but for less the cost)

so far so good! it handled my broads (sailor tuzu & majohn wancai) and double broad (kaweco sport) perfectly well but i don't think the paper quite likes dualshading inks 😅

you can never get a full fill with the con-40. it's also hard to clean. one of my preras still has it but i had to take out a small metal ring from it because it drove me nuts how i can't really fill it. syringe-filling & cleaning pilot cartridges are easier and compared to the con-40, more ink

for note taking or journaling? 😅

as someone who initially started with a Kakuno (and a Lamy Safari clone from Miniso), absolutely! never get a converter for it, though (the con-40 is terrible, the con-70 is better but more expensive than the pen sometimes), it comes in different colors with smiley nibs :)
