tbh i don't think x is a human shield, he's the kidnap victim (and possibly at times grimes's other 2 kids with him as punishment to her). he's obsessed with x, always has been. he doesn't care that x is in danger? also likely falsely believes he can protect him bc ego

imo it's even worse than human shield. he's obsessed with that kid and that kid only. grimes has been pretty clear we're watching illegal custodial interference (the most common form of kidnapping)

seems to be only that spot, one of the ways he curls up does give him access while grooming but at least so far is fine being redirected from it
guessing he clipped himself yeah. will keep looking for a suspicious tuft of furt & keep it clean

breathing seems fine, never been a hairball cat and that hasn't changed. only pet, no kids. but he's an active dude for almost 13 and an injury wouldn't be a crazy idea
he also started new meds and a couple months later changed the source, so maybe allergies to an inactive ingredient...

indoor, turns 13 this year, stable food and environment, no new treats or bedding - just discovered so watching for how he interacts with it
he did in the last few months start hyperthyroidism meds. his levels are going down as the vet expects and blood tests are due in a couple months

he does have a benign lymphoma and is turning 13 this year
