Here for the history. Avoiding the day job of lawyering. The wig is about the point of crossover.

I always wonder as a what if, if the T-class were left east of Suez to operate off the bat against Japan post 7 December ‘41

Always amazed how common an occurrence it is for RN ships in this period to be battered so much they sink/are scuttled after capture.

All the gins?! 😩🥴

Just when you think you know all the gins 🤣 (naturally anyone who knows gin knows one cannot know all gins, something of a catch 22) Really need to do a test of different tonics to decide if it makes enough difference. Lining up 4 or 5 G&Ts for a taste test just seems a tad decadent 🧐

Given my agreement with your assessment, it just leaves the vital question - what drink?

I just think its a shame we don’t have Achilles and Ajax, childhood wonder vibes at that combo

Excellent spring board for discussion, the national and service variations would be a particular point(s) of interest (good luck on avoiding rabbit holes though 🤣)

Indeed its arguably the best bit of any media - to go and follow up to see what is accurate. I thoroughly mocked Greyhound’s U-Boat/destroyer dogfight. Hat was truly eaten afterwards - who knew a Canadian destroyer did just that!

The RN, proving the point of minefields since… hard on the heels of the Force K mining anniversary, fascinating how aggressive tactics can be made to go awry

Its the speed with which these ships would disappear under and how little chance there was for those on board. Always gives me a slight shiver on any ship going below decks with that thought in mind

The cruiser squadrons in the Med to me typify the RN of WW2. ‘We’ll take casualties but have to be here’. Not to say more or less than other arms (indeed same can be said for the RN subs in the Med for immediate example).

Its the fact the navy said “we’ll know if what happened is as Kormoran’s crew said if we find the wreck” and then they find the wreck and can go “entirely bears out their account”

Up there with ‘first time I drove a car (after being disqualified)”, “first time I visited my home, having left this morning for work” and “first time I’ve ever humiliated myself… well, you know, since yesterday”
