Next, all those woke helicopters with Native American names need to be sorted out.

"Look at the size of the crowd!" is the new "Look at all the lawn signs!"
That wasn't very predictive, either.

Just so you know, the person who wrote the original post, & shared Elmo's tweet with the deadname, is trans herself, so it never occurred to me that it would be wrong to "tag" Vivian (I never actually tagged her, but shared her post, which I guess one can say has the same effect as tagging her?).

Yep, I get what you're saying & I did realize there was more to it, but I just wanted to keep my post (or whatever these are called π) simple & not get too sidetracked. Thanks for bringing it up. ππ»

Looks like Elmo has gone on a tirade about trans people recently on Twitter (I'll stop calling it that once he stops deadnaming his daughter). Wonder what triggered it? π€

Two observations:

- Your brother looks exactly like every single cop anyone has ever seen as an extra in a movie from the '70s. (RIP)

FYI, this meme has been around since 2020. It's from an article from an Aussie satirical news site called The Shovel.
The article doesn't seem to be there anymore, but check out Internet Archive:

I got my microbiology degree ages ago & my greatest trick was I somehow avoided "sacrificing" any rats, mice, etc. (For those who don't know, that's the euphemism we use.) Mostly got my lab partner to do it.
Never did grad studies (or employed in the field), but kinda glad I didn't just bc of this.

Looks like a good number of NDP voters are going to be voting strategically, not liking what they're seeing to the south & not wanting a lite version of it to happen here.
Btw, by "lite," please don't misunderstand & think I'm referring to PP as Trump Lite. He's Vance Lite. Accuracy counts, peeps.

Of course it's fake. It's real only if Trudeau (Pierre & Justin), Margaret Atwood & the A&W guy are in it.

OMG, that's from the EKOS poll that I mentioned in my original post in this thread. π€¦π» I assumed that was obvious, or at least you clicked on the link in that post.

About that EKOS poll showing LPC ahead in AB π², see quote below.
About the Probit survey, the AB results were 46% CPC & 30% LPC.

"Curiously, the Liberals have a statistically insignificant edge in Alberta; however, this finding is almost certainly an artefact of chance given the small sample size in the province (this finding did not appear in our parallel Probit survey)."

As others have pointed out, there are errors in that quote. It's disinformation, really. The other side frequently does this kind of stuff quite shamelesslyβwe can do better than this.
comment in response to

Actually, I would call the quote "disinformation." It seems to have gone viral, so not much can be done about it now.
Btw, I'm Canadian, against the tariffs & obviously not a fan of the Orangutanβbut we shouldn't act like the other side & we can do much better than this.

I think it depends on the meme. A lot of memes are idiotic, but some just hit & have a visceral impact. Like the old adage says, "A picture is worth a thousand words." They can be as effective as an editorial/political cartoon from a newspaper.
But I do get tired of seeing the same recycled meme.

I'm assuming these are the phrases the US is objecting to:
- "promote peace, tolerance, inclusion"
- "need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach"
- "respect for diversity"
Pretty evil & inflammatory stuff π

In the real world, you step around & ignore a kook sitting by himself on the subway trying to get your attention & yelling at you about crazy crap.
When you do the exact same thing to a kook on social media, he imagines it's a victory & he must be a genius. π€·ββοΈ

For those wanting a plain-spoken explanation:
Inside our cells, there's a method to breaking down proteins: a chain of ubiquitin (Ub) attaches to the target protein (e.g., Trump π¦§), thus marking it to be broken down, which is done by the proteasome (the twisty thing).
Nerds be laughing π€

Yep, we tend to assume HCWs (& scientists) are always rational.
My pharmacist relative is married to a semi-retired MD. Years ago, they discovered that all the lights in their basement were turned on. Their kiddies denied doing it, so they concluded that their house was haunted.
I kid you not. π€¦π»ββοΈ

With her degree, yep, she can say she's a "pharmacist"βbut she never says she last practiced 4 decades ago, so the peeps who think of her as an authority don't realize she π¦π΄π΄π¦π―π΅πͺπ’πππΊ doesn't know any more than they do.
That was my only point.

My antivaxx relative sometimes refers to herself as a "pharmacist" & "healthcare pro." She indeed has a pharmacy degree, but she practiced for only a year or two before becoming a stay-at-home momβin 1983. π€¦π»ββοΈ
In effect, I'm as much of a pharmacist as she isβand I don't even have a pharmacy degree.

The quote attributed to Mike Waltz about Zelensky being "dressed incorrectly" is false (see video). Nonetheless, Trump's staff did suggest a change in attire, according to Axios.

Umm, did she just fall off a turnip truck? She actually thought reposting Orr's comments would make things better, not worse? Orr's praise of Gretzky is like Colin Thatcher calling Paul Bernardo a stand-up guy (ask your parents, peeps).

I must sheepishly admit that I bought a few πΊπΈ products today, but if it means anything, they were all from "blue states" (CA, NJ & CT).
Yeah, I get that a lot of peeps in those states still voted for the Orangutan, but it's probably better than buying from, say, FL or TX.

Just off the top of my head, maybe Sam Elliott. I'm not sure if all of his movies are great, but his very presence makes any movie bearable or less sucky.
