"when you're sitting still, you're moving at the speed of light into the future" sounds like a bad LinkedIn post and yet!

I get that itโs more a mathematical conceit than an accurate reflection of material reality

They save me a lot of time, and maybe someday you'll be able to make serious software with them without knowing how to code, but we're certainly not going to see the machine god come from LLMs โ or anything for that matter by 2030

A couple of days ago, I had an AI repeatedly insist to me a date being returned from an API was a Date object already and not just a string, including autocomplete trying to revert my changes when I fixed it

I was about to say I think it's possible wormholes might enable large jumps, but that's not FTL per se.

One way you can conceptualize of relativity is that we're all moving at the speed of light always all the time โ just mostly in the 4th dimension.

There are only 30 employees at the studio that made CO:E33. They outsourced a lot of extra labor overseas to save money. They had to be very scrappy with a much smaller budget to make a game that good.

We need more games that aren't AAA that are more affordable.
But the economics of AAA games simply no longer make sense at $60, and no amount of shouting "corporate greed!!!" will change that.

"Conventional wisdom" is often dumb as shit.
Corporate greed is real but you can't use it as an excuse to deny actual economics. AAA games these days require massive teams of people making $100k+/yr. each.

Coups are a looooot easier when it's only like a 5 minute detour for a bunch of tanks to roll up to all the important buildings

I wouldn't bet on it. But it's more within the realm of possibility than a lot of people probably assume.

Disabling non-following replies on this since the editor-in-chief of a major leftist publication has decided the best use of her time is trying to call out a small-time queer technologist

You don't need a new iPhone to run it. I'm running the beta on an iPhone from 2022.
