Washington is purple and all the pre-meeting chitchat on my work Teams calls today was about people being out with flu.

it's like ... i really do wish all these movies had someone playing Kurt Gödel in them, tho? also, the ai robot clearly never saw oppenheimer

Shouldn’t the single family homes buffer the denser housing on quieter streets? I am just going off Census data that shows 90% of car free households are renters & 99% of them live in a 2+ unit building. Putting SFZ on arterials makes sense due to its car dependence & puts fewer people in harms way

this blew my mind. must-watch.

My love for you is like a peregrine falcon. One more valentine from a past year.

#OtD 11 Feb 1916, Lithuanian-born Jewish anarchist Emma Goldman was arrested in New York City on charges of violating the Comstock Act, for distributing information about birth control. We've made available some of her work and merch here: shop.workingclasshistory.com/...

is there an AR app that will tell you who a famous person is? like you point your phone at a screen where you know somebody famous is on it but have no idea who they are

sometimes the fire department stages this massive ladder truck at the grocery store for some reason. dunno why, but it's fun to see it there

SCOOP: A US Treasury threat intelligence analysis has designated DOGE staff an ‘insider threat'. An internal email reviewed by WIRED calls DOGE staff's access to federal payments systems “the single biggest insider threat risk the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has ever faced.”

done. haha hell yeah signing up for a wired magazine subscription, it is 2001 all over again

I haven't heard a car alarm in a while. Those were the best thing about cars, which are otherwise awful. Goofy electronic medleys coming out of nowhere and annoying everyone. That's how you create community and culture: shared experiences. It's probably all on smartphone apps now.

Become ungovernable ... follow a path of desire to a place authorities don't want you to go. My latest for @startribune.com www.startribune.com/koerth-this-...

The people who think they are good at everything because they are good at coding are also bad at coding.

popcorn popper roasted coffee for the first time the other day and it was ... surprisingly trivial? i had been kinda scared to fuck it up but no, perfect medium roast just by watching it real hard. neat!
