Portuguese editorial cartoonist Zez Vaz reaches back to Tiananmen Square to call on American defiance.

“We must especially beware of that small group of selfish men who would clip the wings of the American eagle in order to feather their own nests.” -FDR, 1941

the democratic party raised enough money to fund one hundred regional party newspapers for four years and spent it all on ads

We need to be clear that Trump and Musk are not reducing the size of the US government, or making it more efficient. They are destroying it. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

Posted around NYC, Chicago, DC and other cities. Be creative. Do something!

this is the sort of thing you post when you’re ramping up to defying lawful court orders

The stunning cowardice of the Republican Party in this moment will go down in the history books. They simply gave our government to a billionaire and cheered as it burned.

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024. You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right? Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year. You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

Representation without taxation for a handful of billionaires, taxation without representation for the rest of us.

Summary of Today in Tariffs: Trump sets house on fire, then congratulates self after putting it out.

Time to accept that we simply have a mad king. The guy slapping 25% tariffs on Canada's postage while calling for its annexation - and releasing scarce water into the Central Valley to fight already-contained fires in LA - isn't doing a bit or pursuing a secret, rational strategy

Tomorrow, I hope all of you reading this will get up early and start calling your Senators, House Member and state and local reps and demand they work to stop these reckless tariffs; stop Trump's dangerous nominees; stop Elon from ransacking our government. We must be loud tomorrow, really loud.

It's a tragedy.

Hey, this is a great time to become a member of NPR if you aren’t already. Contrary to what a lot of folks think, almost none of their budget comes form the federal government!

This brazen attack on free speech shows that everything Trump and his enablers say about free speech is a lie. www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...

This is absolutely chilling. He truly is a sociopath.

Trump is deporting the guy who mows your lawn but releasing the guy who bashed a police officer’s head in back to your community.

So when all was said and done, the only country that opened it's prisons and sent crazy murderous criminals to prey upon innocent American citizens, was us.

Maureen Dowd nails it re Biden. "His narcissism trumped his patriotism."

NEW: Trump and acolytes spent years burying the truth about Jan. 6 beneath a reeking blanket of deception and falsity. The cover-up extends to the Capitol and refusal to install a plaque honoring law enforcement. Disgraceful doesn't begin to describe the affront. www.latimes.com/politics/sto...

Trump's crypto scheme is probably the single most corrupt act any president has ever undertaken, right? It's literally "You can pay me, the president of the United States, billions of dollars" and that's exactly what people have done

This post makes a key point: While # of rides is down, overall ridership is much higher. People are still riding but simply taking fewer trips (e.g. 6 weekly commute trips instead of 10). People still rely on transit. We need a new model to fund it. We must not let it unravel with big service cuts.

This is what the tech bros are backing — meme nonsense where someone is going to lose and it will not be them.

Strange. The folks who used to tout crypto for not being tied to the government now want to tie crypto to the government. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/16/t...

Maybe so many members of Congress think the stock market is an accurate reflection of the economy because they spend so much time trading stocks. Prohibiting members of Congress from trading stock is a total no brainer.

My quote: “With these newly updated sustainability goals, California's community colleges are accelerating our efforts to address the climate crisis. The L.A. wildfires and recent atmospheric rivers and bomb cyclones make clear that climate change is not a hoax, and urgent action is needed now.”

Do we really want someone with questionable ties to Russia and Syria being the Director of National Intelligence? Tell your Senators to vote no on Tusli Gabbard. It only takes a minute.
